Does anyone know if the lift cylinders are different part numbers and does anyone have the numbers if they are? The number I have
is 88957086, is there more than one or are they universal? Also I have problems with my top not working tried it today and got a message
that said ( Top Motor Over Temp ) if anyone has seen that message and have not been using it just tried it today and nothing happens.

I found part numbers for two different folding top cylinders, CYLINDER. Folding Top Assist LID/FOLDING TOP STOWAGE COMPARTMENT # 88957086 and CYLINDER. Folding Top Assist REAR COMPARTMENT LID HARDWARE # 88957088. I don't know from your symptoms which one you need or if you need both. Maybe you can tell with a Tech2 to diagnose the problem. :dunno: I nave never seen the message (Top Motor Over Temp) however I did have low hydraulic oil recently and that caused my top to function improperly.

Thank you much for an additional #, as there are 2 sizes at least. The one I suspect of leakage is the on the passengers side mounted to the actual Deck Lid linkage to the painted Tonneau panel for movement when top is stowed. The cylinder and panel remain with the deck lid as the trunk opens for the open trunk operation only. I'm having some leakage onto the right side lower linkage and right shelf panel metal support bracket. The black coated linkage paint looks as though paint remover has leaked on to it. I suspect the fluid used in the system is as aggressive as brake fluid.

I also just started:dunno: getting a notice in my information center that "top mtr over temp" even though the hyd mtr isn't running nor was the car in any mode?

The DIC top pump over temp message indicates the Folding Top Control module is receiving a high temp reading from the thermistor located inside the sealed (crimped) case of the hydraulic motor. If the motor temp is within band, the thermister is likely failing and the pump will require replacement. A very cheap component ends up costing more than $1600 (before labor.) Use the Search function to read other posts that go into greater detail on this subject. This thread might be more appropriate in the Technical Section where the majority of the Folding Top-related posts reside.
