Race Scanner recommendations?

I'd like to get David a scanner to take to the races this year so we can get more info than the broadcast radio offers. I know nothing about them. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

If you get a multi channel Bearcat scanner, you'll be able to use it on the way to Colorado to listen for the cops as well----that way Dave won't have to stop and talk to them!!!
