My XLR/V(s)
2005 silver
I have a 2005 XLR that I was thinking of adding the super charger to it to make it a "V" model. Has anybody out there done this or have any advice for me.

I don't think it would be a good idea. The V uses a different block. It is 4.4 liters, not 4.6 liters, with the webbing strengthened between cylinders to accommodate the extra pressures. They are also assembled at a different line/location, to insure adherance to specifications.
I don't think it has been attempted before.

Like stated before the block design is nearly the same except the cylinder size. Yes theirs more meat around the a Cylinder walls. Don't know about the lower intake angles might be different so matting the supercharger to the block might need some work. The best option I found besides buying a v model is a rear mounted turbo. Cylinder pressure won't be as high because of the length of tubing. If their are problems with detonation or to much cylinder pressure you can use a meth injection setup to offset it. Rear mounted turbo systems can add 100-200 hp depending on configuration.
I talked with a fella that had a system on his camaro and he loved it. Had nothing but good things to say about it. Believe cost is around 3k

Thanks

Well that answers both of my questions. The turbo sounds like to much work. So what else can I do to increase the hp.

I'm with Stella on this one. Fraught with engineering problems and danger.

Hi. I looked into doing the same thing and discarded the idea for a bunch or reasons. First, I want to keep mine as original as possible which I think preserves value among other considerations, like trying to keep my odometer mileage as low as possible. Second, in Gold Mist, as far as I know, Cadillac never offered a 'V' model.

Besides intake runner problems, the 4.6 is a different animal than The 'V' block. I believe you'd run a huge risk of detonating the engine.

Stella's Idea of an intercooled turbocharger, I believe is a much better idea. This way you could always return it to OEM configuration if you elected.
