I can confirm that this is possible. I called XM today and had my radio put on hold until 01MAY 2012. I can activate it sooner either with a phone call or online.
I suggest you tell the customer service rep that answers the call what you want to do early in the conversation because they will need to transfer you.
There is no charge to do this and it will save a couple of bucks.
