Apparently one of the most important thing you should look at for increasing your vehicles performance is your tires. There is an account of an interesting comparison of a 2001 Mustang GT beating a 1999 Porsche 911 just using high performance tires on the Mustang VS the using stock OE tires on the Porsche.

Good point. This also can apply to stopping/braking along with different pad compounds and can be much cheaper than "big brake" setups.

The article was a decent basic introduction. But, its bottom line is as we all pretty much already know..."Do your own research!" I know a bunch of guys that have tried the Chinese and Korean brands - very few are satisfied with the results.

SCCA Autocross is changing their rules this year reclassifying street tires to anything over a 200 treadwear rating, which really screwed me over. My Michelin Cups have an 80 treadwear rating, but at least their street legal (I refuse to trailer my car and/or tires to an event). Next year I might as well just get Hoosier racing only tires and compete in the race tire class.

Life's all about trade-offs. Drag Radials on a road course is just as bad.:chuckle
