No IPOD interface for the XLR's?

I believe I read that the other Cadillac's have a IPOD interface, but there does not seem to be one on the LXR?? True?

You are correct. The electronics in the XLR is from the 2004 design of the vehicle--it hasn't been updated like other models. Even the navigation is unique to this vehicle. There are some aftermarket suppliers that make a unit to attach an ipod to the system. I have one that works fairly well. I'll have to search a home fot the company name and website and let you know later.

Must be a GM thing... My 07 Corvette has the same problem. I bought an aftermarket "LOCKPICK" that connects to the XM satellite module so I can use my IPOD. However, it's pretty limited. Kinda sucks especially when you see cars that sell for about 1/4 the Vette and Cadillac that have all the latest and greatest electronics... :pat: Thanks for the info!

Suggestion: Burn 5 CD's of your favorite songs from your Ipod and stuff them in the slot. Works great plus great sound.

I'd love to but I burned several and they wont play in the changer. They will play in the dvd and also in my BMW and my truck but not in the changer. Whats your trick?

Do you burn your CDs with MP3 format music? if yes, I believe the XLR won't read them. They need to be just regular music CD format.

I guess I will have to experiment when I get the car. CD's are great, but I still prefer using the IPOD. I'll investigate the aftermarket options.

This was a problem that we have discussed at another time, what worked was recording on Memorex at 4X .....

That was awhile back - but it seemed to work for our '04's ...

Remember our car's technology is from, like, 2003 ....

Well since I started this idea this time, I will give you what information I have and I believe Silver X is right.
I used Sony CD-R music 80 minute long CD's, but first I copied all my CD's to a playlist in I-Tunes, bought a few extra songs that I've always wanted, checked only the songs I wanted to burn and burned them.:patriot:
I have played these CD's in my 04 and now in my 06-V.

Have you tried to play your home made CDs in a regular CD player, not a computer? (Wave files are not the same as Music CD format). I use my iPod all the time with the Coastal unit. It's basic functionality but it works.

SilverX

No. I burn them in wave files.

Use your computer to "make an audio CD" I use NERO and it works great. You can get 80 minutes on a CD and the sound is fabulous. I converted some .mp3 files of oldies and the result was amazing.

That's the way to do it. "Audio CDs" Nero or a multitude of other software packages will do it.

When you buy an XLR and start driving it with the XM radio on you may find that is all you want. I have only loaded one CD and listened to it once, I just keep the XM radio going and it is great. Hope you find the Red 09 you are seeking, with the slow down they may be hard to find. First Robin

I went to the Specialist and they have a GM module they hook up to your FM reciever (88.7) cost $233.00 (installed) works great. I had the wire for the Ipod put inside the center consol with enough room to bring out during use and hide when parked. I have a 2006 and they told me thay were unable to hook it up to the Satillite system. I am very pleased with the sound.

Yeah, I have XM in my Vette and Lexus, but I still like to have the ability to connect my IPOD. It's not a big deal, but I will look into the after market options.

"Specialist"? Is that a electronics store in AZ?
