I've only had my 2005 XLR for about 3 weeks, and only driven it at night about 3-4 times. The high beams always responded to turning them on with the turn signal lever on the column, and "flashing" them. Tonight, after dark, I went to the store and the indicator on the panel showed that they were on, and the "heads up" showed that they were on, but they weren't. I moved the lever from brights to flash, and they would come on once or twice after moving it back and forth 6-8 times; then nothing. What is the problem? A bad lever, or a bad connection some where?? I want to "Thank you" in advance for you replys.

Are your headlights on on low ok?

It’s the relay in the fuse box under the hood on the passenger side.
Look on the lid at the fuse legend and find “hi beam” remove and replace relay, easy fix and inexpensive.

Thank you so much! I cleaned the contacts on mine with 400 grit sand paper, and now it's working fine; but if it ever fails I'll know where to get one, thanks to you!! I thought it may be exclusive to Cadillac parts houses. I just love this forum!!!!

Your very welcome !
I have received valuable information here as well and I’m just paying it forward [emoji4]

Like I said in the thread;High beams are the problem. I don't think I could have driven to the store in the dark with out low beams, silly.

The XLR does not have conventional high and low beam, it has discharge lamps and shutters.
