Any suggestions for cigarette smoke smell?

The 2006 XLR I just bought has only 13k miles on it. I am however positive he spent all 13k miles in it while smoking with the top and windows up....

I just had it detailed and it looks great, but the smoke smell is very deep and you can still smell it.

Any suggestions on how to get the cigarette smell out of a vehicle????

Call around and see if any detailer in your area has an "ozone machine". You may end up having to call a disaster restoration specialist (in my area, there is Americlean and Big Sky Disaster). They seal off all the windows and treat the interior with an ozone fog. The ozone doesn't hurt the interior, it just gets rid of odors; essentially the same thing they do after fires, mustiness and mold odors after water damage, etc...
I had an older Taurus at one time that the former owner was a chain smoker; I took it to Americlean - it took two or three treatments, but no more smoke smell. Sometimes after the first ozone treatment, the odor will return after being in the heat of the day. Ask them to guarantee the odor won't return... that way you only have to pay for the treatment once - that's what I did.

The first thing I would do is change the cabin air filter after spraying it with Lysol then run the heater and A/C on recirculate for a bit.

OR you can purchase an alpine living air ozone machine (beware of imitations) for your home. Put it in your car to take care of the smoke smell then clean the air in your home as well.

Works great. I have had the same machine for 18 years with absolutely no problems. Works great for the house!

Thanks for all the great suggestions!! I'll be trying them all!! :squint:

My car was previously owned by a smoker and my wife wouldn't even sit in it when I first bought it. I tried Fabreeze, (helped a little) and Ozium (which worked pretty well, but left it smelling like an ER) then found this:

Griot's Odor Exterminator wipes out any smell (or form of carbon-based life) in the vehicle. You pour some water in the container, place it in the car overnight, air out the car, and you're done. Works like a champ. No scent, just clean. Save your money on the other products, this is a one-step solution.
