Hey

What is the answer? Is the XLR based on the C-5 or C-6 chassis ? Understand the X came out in '04 but was for all intents created in '03 and that the C-6 came out in '05. Is it a C-5 or did GM update things in '05 for the X. Have seen it stated both ways at different points on the inter-web. Just wondering. A guy at the gas station referenced C-6 today.

most of the parts I find that interchange are off of the c6 not sue about being based on c5 or c6

I read an article from GM that called it a C5.5 because of mods they have to make combined between the 2 chassis.
I put a set of rotors and brake pads on my 04 and they were C6 parts.

C6 is the answer..... C5 Corvettes built on the automated assembly line, while the XLRs were assembled in a couple of large rooms at BG plant using next generation C6 Vette specs.

[ as per my visit to Bowling Green plant in '06 ]

I maybe wrong but think I read somewhere that it’s a C5 frame with C6 suspension.

C5, however there were alterations to accommodate the retractable hardtop not used in the Corvette.
