Hi All,
Was wondering if anyone has switched out the round exhaust tips on their XLR to a different shape? (e.g. rectangular or square)
It's a little odd to me how squared-off and futuristic the overall design of the car is, and then it has 4 round standard exhaust tips that don't really seem to belong. :dunno:

The test mules of the XLR prototypes all had rectangular exhaust tips (pages 45, 67, 73, 89, 91 of the XLR book by John McCormick), so I'm not sure why they swapped them out for the production model in 2004. Cadillac finally changed them to more interesting tips on the 2009 model, but I'd imagine these won't easily fit onto my 2005. I don't want to swap out the whole exhaust system....I just want better looking tips.

Here are a few interesting ones I found on Corvette websites:

I've wondered the same thing... just haven't come across anything that jumps out at me.

I put a cat back system on mine and then put Gibson rectangle tips with a slant cut, they go so much better with the lines of the car. if I knew how to put a picture on here I would,Help.

I will be ordering a 2009 rear fascia and exhaust tips for my 2006 XLR.

Wow, those look AWESOME! Where'd you buy them from? How much were they?

Those tips look just like the stock tips on my 1970 440 R/T Challenger. They look great on both cars . Go figure

Former '68 Charger R/T owner here. Those rectangular tips look good and bring back some memories. Can you get a shot of the whole back end?

Just wanted to post some pics of the exhaust tips that I installed. Thought they were a little different went good with the car. I also made a exhaust plate similar to the corvettes. Am not finished with the plate want to put some kind of badge in the center thinking the corvette hood flag badge in black and silver.

do they have them with four square tips instead of two?

I did see by a different seller a pair that was more of square tips that broke off to 4tips. I wanted to follow the point in the rear that's why I went with these angled tips. I actually am not 100% satisfied. I am in the process of making a single tip that is a cross between the foose design and the new cts-v. I like the sharp square lines and the stealth look. I'll post some pics when I'm done with it.

Seems to be an old post

I'm considering changing the exhaust tips on my '05 to the '09 model.
Anybody have access to a MFG of this tip/s??

Thanks!

I thought about this too because I really, really, really like the look of the 09 base exhaust. And I even found a Chicago reseller that "said" he could get the required parts for the swap. Problem is the 09 tips are connected to the rear bumper cover, not the exhaust. After adding up all the parts costs: bumper cover, cover accessories, tips and connecting hardware, paint, and R&R labor. I think I was looking at $2200. So I decided to go another route.

I'm currently looking to modify and then chrome dip a SLP POWERFLO C5 CORVETTE POLISHED EXHAUST TIP 310305061. I've seen pics of one on an XLR and it looks pretty good just needs some slight mods to be a perfect fit. Unfortunately, they're out of production and I failed to snap one up when I had the chance 3 years ago. I still intend to do this, but will wait till I'm ready to do the full Billy Boat Fusion cat-back and this so its all done at the same time.

These are really nice. Where did you find them?

My tips are the same as the C5's tips, 4 rectangular tips with a ton of space between each set of 2. There are 2 tips per muffler. Vette owners put a plaque between the two sets to fill in the open space but those plaque are selling for $400.

I'd rather just change out the tips. Yours fill in the space really nice.

Here are some tips that I put on when I did my exhaust. I also was looking at the tip that gizmo is interested in. I be dive the tip is 600. Then it needs to be modified cause the inlet are going left and right not front to back like our configuration. I made the plate like the vettes but couldn't figure out what I wanted to put in the center. <a href="http://s1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg620/topila/?action=view&current=null.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg620/topila/null.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos" /></a><a href="http://s1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg620/topila/?action=view&current=BE77D875-BEC5-481C-B901-36E47AA02A3A-9298-0000141DB96241AE_zpsfae1b021.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg620/topila/BE77D875-BEC5-481C-B901-36E47AA02A3A-9298-0000141DB96241AE_zpsfae1b021.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos" /></a>
