Okay, its been about 3 weeks, I need to get some sleep...when will I stop waking up at 2:30 in the a.m. to run out to garage, turn lights on, say WOW, pinch self and not be able to get back to sleep? I'm all bruised up! Oh yes, proud owner of a 2005 blk/blk XLR:worship:. I'm as giddy as a little school girl.
She has the(as I've learned on here) infamous bad front headlamp, but still looks as pretty as a newborn. Wish list for now:new headlamp, WindRestrictor and detailing.
What a great site. THANKS!!! for all the info...Bandit.

Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the forum!!!!

Check eBay (US) there are quite a few headlamps on there, just be vigilant and check out the photos.

Yeah, took me about a month, too. Its too bad that these cars don't hold their value well, but it gave me the opportunity to own one sooner than I ever expected. I still catch myself looking back after parking it somewhere and saying - WoW!

Therapy works - post up your story here:
How I Came To Buy My XLR

Welcome to the forum.

From time to time I catch myself driving slowly past shop windows and watching my reflection.

My wife and I did that today!!

We also, unknown to us, drove into a parking lot during a Coffee + Classics car show.. We were just there to get a coffee, but several people took pictures of the XLR while we drove through.

I've had my Blk/Blk 2005 for almost 2 years ... I STILL cannot believe that I was able to get my "dream car". I can't wait to get out and drive her, whenever the sun is shining. I LONG for 5:00 at work, during the summer.

Congrats on the car, yes, they are beautiful. I've had mine for a few years and sometimes can't believe it's mine.

I am with you there Bandit, I am sleeping now for the most part but my darling sweet granddaughters  pictures had been replaced with a picture of my XLR as my wallpaper on my laptop. Crappy rainy weather here for the last couple of days and forcasted for the next week, so even thought it is in our attached garage I will shift to my file of pictures now an again and just look at my photos of the dazzeling red against the blue sky..........sigh :worship: for the love of my XLR

BTW Bandit, where in Ontario, I am from the Hamilton Burlington area? (post more info!)

Hey all, thanks for all the grats, I am from the Windsor/Detroit area, I am supposed to go to a birthday party today and promised to bring the XLR...problem-its raining, I'm not sure she wants to go out in that awful kind of weather she might get cold and wet.:(

This car is above exhilarating, I hate to 'toot' OUR own horns but a couple buddies took it for a cruise, they drive Jag and Porsche, they just could not believe the stop and turn stares they got driving this thing.

Still haven't caught up on my sleep, in fact up to 2:30 in the a.m. catching up on house work and laundry last night. I promised myself "no sitting in the car till I was done"...only cheated a couple of times, BUT...today is a new day.:rocker:.

Awesome site!!! I am reading just about every post, feel like I know a lot of you already. I will post later on "How I Came To Buy My XLR".

Have a great day all!!!

Welcome to the club!

Welcome Bandit!

You need to post a few photos here of your car. We never get tired of seeing good pictures of our members cars!

Yes, most of us here are quite fond of our XLRs.

Perhaps you should pick up a small video camera and install it in the garage so you can check on your car from the comfort of your bedroom! :chuckle

But seriously, they are such beautiful cars that it's hard not to take a long look at them every time you see them. I have the office and shop for my business located in the basement level of my home. A trip to my office requires that I go down the stairs and pass through my one of my garages to get to my office. As a result, I pass by my XLR every time I go to and from my office. It helps to remind me that there are rewards for my hard work!

As far as the "driving slowly past shop windows" to get a look at the reflection of your car, for me, that goes back to my first car. As good as a car may look, it always looks better in motion. I used to take my GTO downtown on Sundays so I could watch the reflection in the store windows. The fact that some of them were parallel to the street which produced a very nice mirror image and some were at angles so you could watch your car coming and going was always a mesmerizing sight for me.

Here's another little blast for you. You can't believe how much fun it is to have your car in a group of XLRs! I recently was part of a XLR group visit to the Biltmore House in Asheville. There were 13 XLRs in attendance and it was so much fun to be part of that group! I can only imagine what it looked like to others to see 13 XLRs going down the road together., when many people have never seen an XLR before, or might have seen one and didn't know what it was!

Check out the pictures in this thread :https://www.xlr-net.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5130

Here's a great photo taken by Photogirl (our resident photographer) as we were on the exit ramp from the highway on our way to Biltmore House.

Congrats and welcome to the XLR Net! :blinzel:

Bandit,
Please consider joining the Midwest, or any group on some of our outings. You are only a couple of hours from most of us. Certainly the NCH and September's Bobfest.

Bob

Congrats on your purchase of the most beautiful automobile on the planet!!! Also welcome to the best XLR forum on the planet!!!
After 3 years, I am still in awe and the head turning beauty of which the XLR is worthy (JMHO). I and my wife always enjoy watching other cars drivers continually craning their necks to figure out what kind of car it is. It's even more fun to watch cars behind you step on the gas to get up close to take a look!!!
