Tried using OnStar today and it seems that they cannot hear me, also voice recognition is not responding either. Has anyone ever experience this problem. Does the voice recognition and OnStar use the same mic? Called OnStar and they did a software check and I had the operator on the while trying to use it, and she stated that its an audio issue and more than likely the mic.Any help or thoughts are greatly appreciated.

There is indeed one microphone for both OnStar and Voice Recognition functions.

There is also some shared dedicated voice input circuitry, namely the VCIM, (Vehicle Communications Interface Module) Radio, and amplifier. There is a check to disconnect the microphone and verify 9vdc is present on the VCIM side.

Both shale and ebony microphones are discontinued. . .
