Hi all...what ae the 2 smoke pieces between the fog lights on both sides of the license plate... are they decorative or are they protecting something behind them...one is loose and I am having a heck of a time trying to secure it...Any thoughts how?

The adaptive cruise control sensors are behind these. They are important only if you want to use the adaptive feature. They look like sunglass material when looking thru it and need this transparent property for the sensors to work.

The bezel on the right (passenger) side is decorative.

The ACC sensor is located behind the left bezel (closer to the centerline of the road.) This is the one you must clean if the ACC starts acting up and displays a DIC message (CLEAN RADAR CRUISE) indicating the bezel is obstructed.

LOOSE ACC BEZEL

Morning all...Thanks as usual for the imput..Now I know their purpose which is great.. but the one on the passenger side is loose and I am not sure how to get it back in place...One side is in but the other side moves and not locked in place...any suggestions ?

Since it is the decorative side panel that is the problem,,,,you might try some silicone adhesive [small amount] to see if that will hold in place after curing. If not,,,,maybe a some amount of epoxy glue as a last option?

I doubt there's a way to tighten it without glue/tape/buy a new one. I got a replacement one for mine because a few grill pieces are broken. I looked at it & the smoked pieces are held in by plastic tabs. I'd bet yours are broken. There is info on p. 3-27 here on popping the driver side one out to clean it, not sure how that would work: https://www.xlr-net.com/specs/2006/2k06xlr.pdf

Here's a picture of the grill, hopefully you can make out how it's put together; it hasn't been installed because based on the tabs on top Mike determined he'd have to take the bumper off to replace it:

The first step to fixing this problem is to identify the cause of the problem, by removing the bezel and performing a visual inspection. Is it seated properly?

Are any of the retaining tabs broken? Is the lower grille affected? If so, then you can make the best decision as to whether to bond it into the lower grille or replace any defective parts.

Hi again all..I checked out the piece and all the tabs are there..it's holding on one side but precariously. it seems there may be a gasket missing as the other side with the ACC seems to have one showing slightly..That side is in tight..
any idea as to getting a new gasket ?.new complete piece.? Any thoughts
as always,Thanks.
