My 2004 needs a new brake modulator but GM discontinued the part (#89060303). Has this happened to anyone other than me...any ideas on where to find one? - See more at: https://www.xlr-net.com/forums/new-...ulator-discontinued.html#sthash.XIL4550G.dpuf

I own a 2004 and need a part GM has discontinued. The brake modulator part # is 89060303. My car has been sitting at the dealership for 6 weeks and they have no solution!

Found your part, but....

SMC Performance smcautoparts.com shows 6 in stock. $995.00 each. Sounds steep, but they bought all the parts stock from the Bowling Green Plant when production ended.

Thanks fcor the help...

The one on ebay is the wrong one but I will check the SMC performance immediately...thanks again!

salvage

Looks like the salvage yard may be the better option. I can buy one part for 1k or buy a entire wrecked car for 4k.

Good luck finding a wrecked XLR for 4k. I paid twice that for mine at the auction and then spent another 5k putting it back to original condition. Don't get me wrong, worth every penny spent. :D

Problem solved...Your members did what the dealrship could not!

Thanks for your help. My XLR has been sitting at the dealership for 5-6 weeks and they could not find a solution to my problem. Shaun at SMCautoparts was able to educate me on the brake module. The following is a summary which may help others in the future. The 2004 XLR is on its own with the brake modulator. The 2005-2008 part is different. The bad news is there is NOT one new modulator for an 04 on the planet. The good news is the 05-08 part (#89060303) can be modified to work on the 2004. The part can be used by changing out the original connector with a pigtail connector and then the cadillac service can upgrade the software for the pressure sensor.

I am far from a mechanic so the summary may be a little elementary...but that is my best shot. Thanks again for all your help!

Glad I could help out and your ride will be back on the road soon! That's what this site is all about, helping solve problems.

If my Cadillac dealer couldn't figure this out, and YOU had to find the answer for them, I think I'd take my car somewhere else.

Unfortunately not all dealers have techs versed in the XLR. That's why it is best to find one who does.:)
