2005 red hardtop convertable
Looking for a Northern Ohio dealership with XLR repair experience?
Convertable not working and local dealership wants to replace the hydraulic motor.

Any suggestions?

Did they run all the diagnostics to figure that out, or just guess at it? That pump is expensive! I just replaced mine, I think the part alone at retail was over 2 grand.

Replacement Pump

They quoted me $2,700 to replace it. They said they did the diagnostics but I'm not sure if they ever worked on an XLR before.

Before I'd invest that kind of "cheese", I'd first check the situation in the trunk compartment holding the hydraulic pump and its electronics. It's on the driver's side, under the carpet in the very back of the trunk. Check to see if it's wet in there (reported by a lot of XLR owners). If so, dry it out thoroughly (also, find where the leak is) and try it again. Can't hurt any, and it's FREE!!!

Foster Chevrolet Cadillac in Sandusky about 60 miles from Findlay. Certified Service Department - Foster Chevrolet Cadillac

I deal with Chris Capucini, the service manager, and Sue Couts, one of their very experienced service writers whom I have known for almost 20 years. They have treated me very well over the years with servicing my XLR and CTS and prior cars. It's worth getting a 2nd opinion on what could be a high cost repair. Check my PM. Anthony

Good idea. Check a thread I started 2 years ago on this, plus several others have threads on the subject. Mine took two computers and the pump.
