2006 Red Jewel CLR-V
My wife and I have had two previous XLRs and just recently my wife retired so we found a local 06 -V one owner 17xxx looks amazing so original tires had to go ,, next stop the gentleman scratched the lower front bumper parking most likely not a big deal but let’s do it right, and after that most likely put a clear bra on the front clip .
I am concerned since we purchased the other day went to put the top down a lot of growning and moving slow and said oh boy !! So put it back in place ,next which way do I go in the St. Louis area last stop I guess Dealership !!
Any suggestions in this area or not to far to diagnose what’s going on asking for the professionals on here to help Many Thanks Everyone

Did you check the fluid? That low of miles id assume not driven often. Id start with trunk struts. Does the trunk open ok by itself? Once up if you pull it down a little , will it stay. How far did you get with the top before you stopped.

Thank you Mickeytee no I didn’t try anything yet ,, the trunk does open, I will try and pull it down some and see if it holds in that position.
when I tried to open it was very slow you could tell it was having trouble some groaning lol ,, and was at least half way up but stopping I thought so I didn’t want to force or go farther so I thought maybe I should see if I can close it before it totally stops and it went back down slowly so I felt whew !!! It’s closed.
We just purchased from a guy in his young 80s and yes I’m thinking he used it on occasion early on but not often and it sat a lot also so it did work smooth had it open just afew times since we purchased it..
I called a couple dealerships talked in service and they said bring it in pretty much like saying don’t forget your check book Lol,
One guy in service that he is the Corvette guy in all of St Louis that’s booked up for a couple months just to work on your car ,I talked to Him and he pretty much said I’m screwed and he wouldn’t give me 50 dollars for the car and wished I had talked to him before I had bought it ,, just the way he talks !! Pretty much said NO PARTS!! So I guess I need to pick out a Cadiliac dealer and go with it and see what they think!!!!
All open for the next steps ,, Thank you for your response.

Well from what its doing you dont need the only part thats hard to find right now. well corvette guys dont know as much as they think they do. Id look in your area and see if an independant shop shows the work on saabs. They use the same scanner and if they can program a saab top they can do an xlr. If you findbone listed let me know. Ill give them a call and reassure them they can work on it and we do have parts
