outside temperature gage and fan question

Most of my trips in the xlr are quite short and usually the temperature guage never changes from the temperature in the garage. If I go on a longer trip, say 1/2 hour the temp guage seems to update properly.
Is this normal on the x? My other gm cars update constantly and immediately.

Also is it normal for the radiator fans to run several minutes after shut down in hot weather. It seems to me that mine didnt use to.

For Lola it's YES to the temperture and NO to the fan.
Also the Escalade temp display lags ....
