Thanks for posting the pics. I especially liked the memorial shots both during the day and at night...George

A little background on the Memorial...The Gates of Time are the walls framing this outdoor room. They provide a transition from the noise and fast-paced life of downtown OK City to the calm of a green oasis. With twenty-six tons of yellow bronze, these bookends enclose the story of 9:02 a.m., April 19, 1995. The east 9:01 gate signifies life before tragedy. It is normalcy and innocence, a city comfortable in its own security. The 9:03 gate on the west end is the aftermath of that moment. It is the time after disaster, where healing begins to take place.

The Reflecting Pool is where Fifth Street once stretched. It is a 318-foot long liquid mirror. It is lined with black granite.

The Field of Empty Chairs is where the Murrah Building stood. There are 168 chairs. They are arranged in nine rows to represent the nine floors of the Murrah Building. There is a cluster of five chairs on the west end which represents victims who died in other buildings surrounding the site. Each victim's name is etched into the glass base of the chair and placed on the field corresponding to the floor on which they were working or visiting. The smaller chairs are fitted for the nineteen children who died in the building. Fifteen of the children perished in the daycare center. A walkway of granite salvaged from the site forms a ribbon of stone encircling those lost.

We were not allowed to take pictures when we toured the National Memorial Museum. During the day, we spent about 3 hours at the Memorial and in the Museum. When we returned later that evening, we spent another two hours. It was a very moving experience.
