Hello, I bought a used fob on eBay for my 2007. I followed the procedure in the owners manual, but to no avail. Do I need to somehow clear the used eBay remote before I can program it? Also when it's in the slot being programmed how long does that typically take?

Mitch,
Try searching the forum for 'programming fob'. One of the folks here could not get theirs to program via glove compartment. Changed the battery and it programmed just fine. Lots of comments here about changing the batteries in the Fob on a regular basis. I'd try putting a new battery in and try programming again.

The XLR can have up to 4 FOBs. Your XLR may have had 4 FOBs programmed already. You may need to have the old FOBs erased with a TECH2 before you can program your new one.

CC,
I have a Tech II I can help Mitch out with. If you could direct me to the correct section in the Service Manual. I have a .pdf copy of the '05 manual, if that will provide the correct procedures for reprogramming the Fob.

Fob

I found the correct section of the Service Manual. I think we can at least find out how many fobs have been programmed and go from there. I know the newer XLR's have a different style of remote, but didn't know if they are programmed the same as the '04 and '05's.:dunno:

Hey Tim, thanks!! My only confusion is the DIC doesn't indicate that to many fobs have been added.

I bought a used fob on eBay. Programmed it and it didn't work. Ironically, if I put it in the slot in the glove box it will start the car. I had it tested and it is transmitting. All buttons work. But it will not do anything unless it is in the slot. It does have a new battery also. I never have figured that one out but it works out because I keep it in the car all the time in case I loose my fob. I have the key hidden under the car to get in and I can use the eBay fob in the slot to get home.
