New owner here! 2005 XLR, top works fine but that middle flap won't lie flat when the top is down; it sits perfect when the top is up making a perfectly flat rear window deck. I hear a 'thunk' when it seats, but it isn't flat and the rubber lip doesn't mate with the trunk lid deck, maybe a 1/2" gap but still

any ideas on what I would adjust or look.

I had the same problem a yr ago. Talked to my service guy and he kind of bent the “lever rod” back in place. But it could be something else. But that’s what my problem turned out to be. Yours might be similar but also something different

Thanks!

Hawk... thanks so much for the quick reply; gotta love a forum where people are involved! I will look for what the heck the 'lever rod' is (anyone have a pic?) and see what happens. Fantastic!:thumbsup

I hope this helps. But I don’t know about the last couple pics. I was trying to look from my car. But I also have a parts list (the first couple pics) just as a reference point. Because I have no idea if these parts are still available. But worth asking at your parts dept dealership.

the 'lever' rod

This is good stuff, I just need to poke around. When I tried to move the center cover when the top was down, I couldnt lift it like it shows in your pic, maybe this was part way through the top lowering process. I am travelling for work for 10 days so I will look at it when I get back. :)

Yes I cycled the top to the 1st position when the trunk goes up and the center cover and side covers move. Just to see if I could see the rod and take pics. When the top is stowed and trunk is back to its position. You can’t really move any of the flaps. The trunk holds everything in place. So don’t really force anything If you can help it. You might make things worse for your wallet

Unsatisfying Closure to this Thread

I purchased a WindRestrictor and during the install, removed the box to run wires per instructions.

While cycling the top, I found that the FLAP NOW SEATS properly.

So, not sure what I bumped, moved, shifted etc but it is fixed.

I really just wish I knew what I touched. Or if the top was bumping into something.. Oh, well if you treat the symptoms sometimes you cure the disease....
