According to John McCormick in his book Cadillac XLR, "During the test regime, the top was cycled 30,000 times and subjected to climatic extremes, car washes and even different types of rain."

Thank You for your info..John's book is VERY $$$$$ on Amazon $93-$300 PLUS. Can not see paying that much but would love to read it.

Yes, they have gotten quite pricey in the last few years!

There are currently 2 new ones on eBay, but the cheapest one is $75. You might want to keep a sharp eye on eBay and see what turns up.

The cheap one looked decent so I bought that one a few minutes ago for Amy and I to share. :slap: Good luck on that since we ended up with 2 XLR's.

You'll LOVE the book!!! I've had mine almost as long as I've had the car; Tiffany's Dad hand delivered it to me in San Antonio the summer of 2009 - our first long-distance trip with the XLR...

I'm looking forward to learning more about the XLR but I will let Amy have the first look when it comes in. It is great to have a spouse that shares the same passion for the XLR.

XLR Book - a short story

A short story - I started looking at the XLR in Summer 2008 and picked up a catalog at the dealership. A year later my nephew hands me a birthday present that felt like a book. I unwrapped it. It was the McCormick book. I said that if there was ever a sign that I should get an XLR, this was it. No one knew that I was looking at the XLR! It's a great book. Five months later I had my XLR.

I bought a copy of that book through the used section of Amazon; they rate the condition of the book and price accordingly. I ordered one of the higher rated books although not the most expensive availabe at the time; and when it arrived it was like new but I paid nearly half of what they were asking for brand new, so keep that thought in mind WAG. (This was about 1 1/2 years ago, sometime shortly after I bought my car in May of 2011). I meant to bring it to Florida to re-read it again.

Two years later Rod hand delivered my book while I was in Billings. Who would have known that the simple ownership of a car would bring with it this sense of brotherhood, and whether if we have met or not you are all my brothers and sisters.

Mike, now that you've had Victor-V for a little while, how would you compare the driving experience to the Mustang?

I agree - so true. Experienced it on the Pa trip we went on, couldn't believe how the love of a particular car could get so many different people to fit together so well.

In the fraternity - with the letters X-L-R! :blinzel:

It really depends on the mood.

If I'm looking for a premium beer taste, I take out Beast (the Shelby GT500).

If I'm looking for a champagne taste, I take out Victor-V (the XLR-V).

With that being said, I've done some "Gizmo" upgrades to the Shelby. It is over 600+ horsepower!! It has 80% of the same suspension as Ford's FR500C Grand-Am Cup Mustang. So it has the power and decent handling.

I haven't done any Gizmo's on Victor-V but it doesn't disappoint!! Victor-V is a dream to drive. It has the power and the handling anyone would need. The amenities on the XLR-V are 1000% time better than the Shelby but Carroll Shelby was all about power and that was it.

To sum up, beer vs. champagne. For me it is all about the mood.

That's why I keep both under my hood.

Also eBay half they deal in books and reading material!

Since this doesn't have anything to do with the Site Help and Feedback forum, I'm going to move it to the proper forum...
