I have my XLR on a battery minder and currently it's in the process of re-charging the battery. When the battery reached a partial charge the rear lights started flashing and there is a "ticking noise" on the engine compartment. Do I continue charging the battery?
Is this a security issue? How do i disable this security while the battery is being re-charged?

I always hook up my battery tender when the car is not in use. I've never heard any ticking or flashing from any lights. After getting off the driver seat, shutting the door and the alarm setting you shouldn't have any power going to your lights. I would say thAt you have a relay or switch that is bleeding power somewhere. Happy hunting.

The car has been dead for 2 weeks. Everything was dead. I just recieved the battery tender and hooked it up last night.

Maybe it gave the car enough power to power up the alarm? Putting a tender on a dead battery will not guarantee a good batt. Depending on the condition of batt. you might get stranded. You might want to get a load check on the batt. that will tell you the cond. and if it will hold a charge. What was the reason for the dead batt. in the first place?

That's what I think happened. Just enough to power up the alarm. I did a check on the battery and it's still good. The battery went dead after 2 weeks of no use sitting in a cold garage. Any suggestions should I just jump it with my other car?

Christmas Day 2010, my XLR was dead in the garage after not driving it for 2 weeks. I jumped it to get it started. Idled it. 2 days later it was dead again when I tried to start it to take it to the dealership to evaluate the battery. Jumped it again. Battery was replaced. Cadillac told me at least 20 mins driving to put a good charge on the battery. Idling won't do it. Bought a battery tender and I put the car on it if I'm not going to drive it in the next 7 days. Has worked perfectly the past 2 winters. Fired right up when I went to the Cleveland auto show yesterday on a rare sunny day this winter in Northern Ohio. After a battery failure, the window up/down set points are lost and need to be reprogrammed. My active cruise control also needed to be reprogrammed after battery replacement. Noticed it when I drove it to the dealership that the cruise didn't work.

Anthony is correct, idling won't bring the battery to a full charge; you have to drive it least 20-30 minutes, and an hour wouldn't hurt - or put a battery charger on it for a while. Battery tenders are just that, tenders, not designed to fully charge a battery from completely dead.

I had the same issue, dead battery, put charger on and lights flashed and the horn started blowing. Shut the charger off, disconnect the negative or positive cable at the battery then put charger back on. When the battery is charge put the cable back on. You will probably have to re-index your side windows.
