The last day I was in Florida (last Sunday) before heading back to the Great White North for Christmas, we went to a local dive bar for wings and I snapped this 'selfie' with my XLR in the background. I thought I would share it here and it made me think it may be fun to have a Selfie thread.... so I am starting one to help 'put a face to our online persona!'. BTW: not to worry, I didnt drive the car back north to all this snow, it is waiting patiently for me in gulf coast Florida!

So if any of you out there don't think this is totally 'lame' :( and are so inclined: Post your 'selfies' with your XLR too!

Definition of a Selfie: a photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically taken with a smart phone or camera where the photographic device is held at arms length or extended using an 'selfie stick'. The photograph includes 'oneself' and often includes other people or subject matter.

Nice pics, but only one of them is a true selfie

By the shine on your car, you should post a selfie of you taking a photo of a reflection of yourself!

I guess this one may qualify. I'm reflected in the corner of the bumper just south of the headlamp.

My favorite selfie of 2016: you can see my feet as I chill in my recliner while PJ is detailing the car at a show.

Me on the Bumper

This is how us old people without cell phones take selfies. If you have good eyesight you can see me below the left tail light in the bumper. Paul, the bluebeast's caretaker.

See...the bumper shots do count as selfies after all! 🤡

Good one. Just a thought ~ in most of our cases our XLR is far better looking than we are anyway ~;)

great gas mileage

Not exactly a selfie but we are on our way back from Florida to Ontario Canada. Steve is driving the Grand Cherokee and I am in my XLR. I had reset the average MPG feature and glanced at it the first day, yesterday - later in the day and it was at 27.6. Not the best I have got in the past I was just shy of 28 on a trip once......but good - keeping in mind that I tend to be a spirited driver and we were traveling between 77 - 79 mph virtually everywhere except in the posted construction zones. Also, I am running mid-range fuel as Steve & I are both filling up on one swipe at the pumps - we have had trouble in the past when driving in two cars as we have the same VISA number and the bank was freezing our cards  when we were both swiping cards at the same time.

Anyway, I reset my average mpg again this morning and in the mid afternoon I had checked it and was in mid 28. mpg zone. Steve & I have walkie-talkies to talk back and forth so I told him about it and he checked his, it was in the mid 23's. So I started being very mindful of how hard I was XLR-ating, doing a bit of drafting etc and so was Steve. Anyway, when I got it to 29.4 mark, Steve (who was leading at the time) decided to slow down to the posted 70 until I hit 30. I started using my Instant mpg thing to keep me in check and really keep an eye on XLR-ating etc. We probably drove 30 miles doing 70 so I could hit the 30: small things amuse small minds - I actually got to 30.1 so Steve reset the cruise to 77 for the last 20 miles. The crazy thing is that by the time we got to the hotel I actually hit 30.3 even though we had sped up.... but I kept being mindful of stomping on it etc. Steve even managed to get 26.8 with the Jeep!

Gotta keep yourself amused when driving that kind of distance! (it is around 1500 miles door to door)

So does anyone else ever pay attention to your Average MPG? Certainly someone must have done this some time...... imagine if I drove 'mindfully' all day long (not necessarily the speed limit though
)

My V has yet to break 20mpg under my ownership as it averages 18.6-19 most of the time. That being the case it still does better than my '14!Jeep Wrangler or my '13 Lincoln MKT!

My V spends a lot of time on the highway about 80 to 85 and am averaging 26 to 27 mpg most of the time.

Off hand my XLR (base) gets in the 21-22 mpg average around town. I tend to accelerate 'briskly' as I love that feeling and sound but I am not 'on it' all the time. I am not truly sure, don't pay attention to it generally, just on trips.

I wonder if any of our members went out right now and checked, what their average would say?

My average is 18.9. But I've seen it up to 22-24 some days
