Try spraying the trunk with some sented Lysol.

Thanks Jack, I have some Lemon Sented Lysol and I'll give it a try in the morning.

Mark I own a professional janitorial biz for 23 years my recommendation would be to pull the carpet out of trunk and have both sides professionally steamed cleaned with and enzyme prespray and deodorized! Then let it dried by hanging it out side like over a wash line. You can clean the backer side of the carpet just make sure it's completely dried before reinstalling. And if you still have a smell try spraying with strong shot of deodorizer again let dry completely! This is my professional adivise!
I hope this may help!

As I stated in your other thread, I have not noticed the trunk getting overly hot. I have carried cabonated drinks in the trunk and other grocery items. I believe you, it is just that it seems odd that the wine would get hot enough to explode. Are you sure that the cork wasn't already lose? When you examined the bottle was the cork completely blown or was it just leaking? Also I have carried chocolates in the trunk before and they were not melted after a two hour trip on a 95 degree Fahrenheit day.

Maybe there is something particular about your vehicle. Either that or we just have to open up an X-File.

Also, "yes" we have hijacked this thread.

Hijacking

Well, since you officially called this post hijacked, I will add my .02. My 04 was lemoned because of the excessive heat coming from the console, (143 degrees with a heat gun) just in time to pick up my new 06-V which is much better insulated as promised by Cadillac. Yes, I believe your right about the exhaust system heating up the trunk. I bought a "Thermos" with a pop open top that is stainless steel and fill it with ice and then water and it will last all day laying on top of the 2 cup holders. I could take the inserts out but that would only make the console hotter. Don't know if everyone knows it or not, but you can take the rubber insert (cup holders out) with a little effort to clean them.:blinzel:
