The newest Cadillac Concept Car

Have you seen the ciel and elmiraj video on Fb? The guy walks past the ciel car and goes for the elmiraj. (That's a word it itself). But the cars lines look like eventually will have a topless model in the future :duno:

Cien

Do you mean the Cien from back in 2000 which was the concept for the XLR?

No, he means the Ciel (which is french for sky). I saw this at the 2011 Los Angeles autoshow. It is much more impressive in the video than in reality. Cadillac decided not to build it because they though it did not have enough brand appeal. After seeing it in person I agree. I also did not like the pointy rear (no one should have a pointy rear, but that's a thread for another time:laugh:). However, in the video below I must admitt it looks fabulous. The car would have had a price point of $100,000.00. I have never seen a version of it with the top on. I wonder what it would have looked like.

Anyway, enjoy:

I still would have and would take the XLR over this.

GM, GM, GM you should have built the Cadillac Sixteen! Even though you placed many elements of it on the current line-up it would have been nice to have it.

My, bad I guess he did mean Cien. Oh, well enjoy the Ciel anyway!

Cien/ Ciel

No apology necessary, I must apologize, I didn't know about the Ciel, thanks for the video. Cien in Spanish is 100, so we have two caddies that have 100 Skies. For a convertible it isn't bad but I like the stealthy look of the XLR with the top up and most people agree. I see other people with the XLR top down and they look like they are in a bath tub so I put the top down after dark:laugh:

Cien would defiantly have to have either another battery or more horses to get the hardtop or soft top up for being a 4 passenger car. That's my opinion though.

We all do it when using the little letters on the cell phones, that was not meant to be a reprimand, especially if you have fat fingers or tremors in your hands. Sometimes my index finger goes into a quake mode and a word can look like thiiiiiis. Embarrassing to say the least.

Too Funny

Now you mean Ciel:laugh::lol::laugh::lol: This reminds me of how the BB started (Blue Bunny) which some folks would remember from back in 06 in the first rendezvous in Albuquerque. I was supposed to get up in front of people at a party at the RIVerwalk Rendezvous IV but came down with a bug that night and never got to explain how BB came to B. Now I'm confused:dunno:

I absolutely love the look of the XLR... top up or top down. It is such a different car top up vs. to down... even handles differently.

The Evoq was actually the concept car leading to the XLR (introduced in 1999) - the Cien was a V12 "Supercar" concept that Cadillac created to celebrate their 100th Anniversary in 2002 (hence the Cien=100 idea). The Cien was actually used in a car-chase scene in the movie "The Island".

I have made this comment before, it's like owning 2 wonderful cars.

As much as most of us enjoy driving our XLR with the top down, it's just as enjoyable in very hot or cold weather as a nice coupe.

Well I should know better than to guess at dates and names and try to remember what I learned back at Rendezvous II in Bowling Green in 2007, where we were introduced to the Evoq which was sent from Detroit to Martin Cadillac, which is now Leachman Buick, GMC, Cadillac. I just saw The Island last week for the first time and drooled down the front of my shirt for about the 100th time, what a design that was. Thanks for unscrambling my brain on the points you pointed out. On another note the XLR was clayed in Detroit but shipped to L.A. to a company that would build the Evoq and then shipped back to Detroit to be refined. I admit that I got out my pristine copy of Cadillac XLR, by John McCormick, the full story of the making of all the aforementioned cars, but realized that if I'm going to bring stuff up on this site, I better darn well know what I'm talking about. It brought me back to the beginning and first day I drove the 04 off the dealers floor with a big red bow on top on my birthday. I was way over due for something special so I bought myself the ultimate present. I haven't taken this book out of it's jacket in probably 8 years.
