I have a 2007 XLR and the sticker on the door jam says the the correct tire pressure should be 30 PSI, however every time I have my car serviced (Cadillac service) they put 37 PSI in the tires. I should check it before I leave, When I notice it, usually when I get home, I lower it to 30 PSI.

Am I missing something?

My first thought is that someone's gauge is not accurate.

When I put air in my tires I find that I have to put in 34 pounds by my gauge to get the DIC to show 30 pounds.

I normally run them at 32 or 33 pounds. GM says 30 to give you a better ride.

I adjust my pressure based on tire wear. If your tires are wearing faster in the middle you want to run less pressure. If the outside is wearing faster then you need more air pressure.

The 30 pounds is more of a starting point for me.

You should not adjust your air pressure right after you have driven your car because the heat from running them will raise the tire pressure. Adjust the tire pressure when the tires are cold.

Agree with WAM. I find that running 'more' psi always give me longer tire life, at the smaller expense of a smoother ride. On our XLR, I run 36 psi when cold.

The manufacturer is only interested in giving you a smoother ride experience.
