Warranty history and vehicle builds

Bruce,
I have the warranty history on my XLR that you sent me and it gives a line or two discription of each service intervention. Does the dealer have access to a more detailed service report for each repair or do they just get the abbreviated form like we do? The reason I ask is that I am curious about the details on two of the repairs done to my XLR and more details may be helpful in determining why the same parts have failed twice.

Thanks,
Steven

The dealer that did the repairs should have the hard copy in their files. Send me your last 8 again and I might be able to find out more information.

Bruce,

Last eight 65603424

Pump replaced at 19,539 miles and then pulley replaced at 28,780. I could turn the bolt in the center of the pulley by hand after the belts let go and the pulley was loose and could be moved about 1/4 to 1/2 inch around the center. Looking at the drawing I see that the pulley assembly must have it's own bearings and is coupled to the pump by a splined shaft. I have not seen it, but the dealer said it damaged the pump shaft and the inside of the pulley. May have been bearing failure this time, but I wonder what happened to the pump and pulley the first time. The V now has about 44,000 miles on it.

Thanks,
Steven

There weren't any line comments for the p/s pump replacement.

Thanks for the service record and vehicle build on my 06 XLR. I bought the vehicle used (two and a half years old), so it's good to have the history on file.
The only thing that concerns me in the car's history is 2 dead batteries within two and a half years??
I was told that if the vehicle sits for a long time, all the gadgets, etc., will drain the battery.
I'm using the XLR (infrequently) as a third car, so I keep it on a trickle charger.
I hope it's the answer.

It's worked for me since I got the car... haven't replaced the battery once (year & a half) I use a battery maintainer instead of a trickle charger. A maintainer keeps track of the battery voltage and only boosts it when needed.

I'm using a C-Tek US3300. When set on the "car " mode the output is
14.4 volts, 3.3A.
I used the term "tickle charger" too loosly. The C-Tek also maintians the
battery.
It's a great unit (small) and it can also be permenently mounted in vehicle.

Thank You!

Car's in the garage. Snow's on the ground. It's going to be a long couple of months untill I can drive my new car.
