What did you own before the XLR? I owned 23 Corvettes before the XLR. Any other Corvette owners trade for a XLR? I also owned a Allante back in 1989. What did you owned or traded?

previous cars

I owned 7 corvettes, two firebirds, a camaro, a fiero and 3 eldorados before I bought the best of all,,my xlr

My first "sportscar" was an '82 Trans Am - black, of course. :chuckle

Also had a couple of Dodge Shadow ES' (both black, of course :chuckle)

But after I fell in love with Cadillacs, I just HAD to have an XLR. All the cars I've owned, this is by FAR my favorite ... not because of the unique styling, or the amazing looks - because of the wonderful friends its brought to me - right here! :rocker:

'68 Dodge Charger R/T, '85 Firebird, '95 TransAm, still have my '90 Allante and enjoy driving it!

In my lifetime I have owned 7 Corvettes (62', 67', 69', 73', 77' and 00' - 02'), 1983 Camaro Z28, 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T, 1999 Dodge Prowler, 2005 Chrysler Crossfire Roadster Limited (still own), 2005 Chrysler 300 SRT8 (still own) and a 2002 MB SL500 which was traded for my 2006 XLR. I have owned many other cars but these are the most memorable.

I owned a 1955 Rocket 88 oldsmobubble, 2 -1956 raggety Ford pickem` up trucks, a 1955 62 series Cadillac sedan (a Cadillac LaSalle club senior car),a 1963 Cadillac two door hardtop....not the coupe d`ville also a senior car, a 1993 Allante that I bought in 2001 with 4063 miles which I sold to buy my XLR. I sold the `55 Cadillac and bought a 1998 Eldorado ETC for a daily driver. I still have the `63, oh yea I have 1991 nissan 4x4 for dump runs.

My first car was a '73 AMC Javelin, quite fast. Still own, has a factory 360 CID, 4 BBL carb, 4 speed. I have a feeling it's a fairly rare version because when I needed a new shift boot, it took the dealer 4 tries to get the correct one for me. Next I had a '68 Ford Ranchero, 390 CID, automatic, had a '57 Belair 2 door hardtop (sold both). Still have a '75 Corvette, a '67 MG Midget (these two are in process of restoration), and a '66 Mustang Convertible (my first restoration, it was a basket case). The XLR was by far my most difficult, and enjoyable restoration. And the MOST FUN TO DRIVE!!!

2 XLRs
3 Mustangs
1 Corvette

1 AMC Eagle (I loved that ugly car)
4 Trucks of various makes

I sold my 2004 Z06 when I bought this car. I have owned way to many cars to remember to try and list them here:)

1970 Olds Toronado Tan bought used in 1971 with 23000 miles $3500, list was $6500, loved that car especially with studded snow tires on the front drivers in the Connecticut hills.
1977 Olds Toronado Light Blue, used PEP car with 3000 miles
1978 Olds Toronado Maroon & white vinyl top with a dark red boudoir inspired interior - another used PEP car with 3000 miles

1989 got a PEP car for my drive to work car
1999 GM divorced it's parts divisions and me into Delphi and no more PEP car, now you know why they have all been GM cars

2007 XLR - Black Raven - the BEST! got it Jan 2010 with 18,000 miles
7/12/11 Just took a weekend trip to Jersey - out Sunday, back Tuesday from my uncles's 97th birthday. Ran great! 30 mpg at slightly over the limit, I won't say by how much. A Toyota engineer offered to trade me his yellow Toyota SUV for the XLR but I respectfully declined. Not quite my style. Got comments at fill-ups and rest stops on how sharp a car it was.

1974 Subaru, Bought wrecked and replaced the front clip
1976 VW Scirocco, bought crashed stripped and burnt. Took 3 cars to put it back together.
1977 Saab 99 EMS. Bought wrecked in front. Put on a front clip and drove for years.
1979 Saab 900 Turbo. Bought out of a junkyard with a blown engine (actually, only the turbo was bad). A couple of years later I had an accident with it (I swerved off road to avoid head on collision on a country road) and the car was totaled again. I rebuilt it again and kept it until it was totaled for the 3rd time by an engine fire. (maybe someone was trying to tell me something...lol)

WOW, what a collection of cars, you've been really busy. I love the '96 GS, what a beautiful car.

Not a very big list for me. With one exception, I've always been a GM buyer. I have a tendency to clearly identify exactly what it is that I want and then keep it for a long time.

I have been car nuts since I was a kid or should I say Corvette nuts. I work at at a used Corvette dealership so I get a Corvette for a demo and I work on them and drive them everyday. That was a big reason why I went for a XLR. I wanted something different. Next year I either want to buy a 07 Passion Red Edition that is my first choice or a 08-09 Blue. But I wouldn't rule out a XLR-V.

I have had over 60, so I won't bore you with them.

Some of my favorites:

1968 Chevelle (my first)

1969 Camaro SS

1991 Corvette ZR1 (fly Yellow) 1 0f 39 produced

2005 Honda Rune

1982 Jeep Scrambler retrofitted with an LS1 installed in 2002 (still have)

and of course the 2005 Blue Steel XLR
