XLR Numbering

Is there a way of telling what the build number is of a given year? I saw it stated that in 2008 there were 1,250 built, but what number was mine coming of the line, is there a way of finding this out? TIA.

The last four digits in the VIN is the sequential number of the car built for that year.

It should be mentioned that base models and Vs shared the same VIN pool every year.

FWIW, In 2008 there were 1150 base models and 392 Vs made. So the last one made in 2008 had a VIN ending in 1542.

Does anyone know why in 2009 the numbers went from 894 to 3015, the last one built? My guess is that they were planing to build 3015 in 2009. Serial number 3015 is a V and serial number 894 is a Platinum with low miles and for sale..

I believe 3015 is in error. There were not anywhere near that many made. I don't believe were never any plans for that many either. VINs are always sequential. It is simply a mistake, there have been a few known errors in the registry.

The VIN on my car has the last digits as 00341, which I believe is correct (out of the 892 that were made). Production date was late August 2009.
