I can see the ear to ear grin through the words...and apparently it was totally worth it. I will try to learn from your example and do my best to stay outa trouble with the police once I get mine finished.

So true

Your right, it was totally worth it. This was my first ticket in close to 15 years and I was smiling the whole time he was in his car writing it. When he pulled me over he asked "are you in a hurry" I said " No, I just bought this beautiful car and I'm driving it home to South Carolina ". When he asked if I knew how fast I was going I told him no, the ride was so smooth like I was barley moving. That's when he told me I was doing 90mph. I made no attempt to talk my way out of the ticket, none at all. I was/am still on cloud 9. I can't believe I actually own this moving, drivable work of art. OMG. I'm 49 years old, retired after almost 31 years in the Army, no way I should be this excited about a car but I am and it feels GREAT! I'm am so happy I found this forum and plan to do my best to contribute for the benefit of all. I look forward to meeting as many of you guys at future XLR events. If anyone else is sitting on the fence about getting one, get off, research and just do it!

Just made it back to South Carolina. WOW, what a wonderful drive. I already have a CTS, so I thought I knew what to expect.. Wrong. The drive was so smooth, so relaxing. Just like many on the forum have already said, at every gas stop I got plenty of looks and questions. Surprisingly enough, I only got one ticket on the drive home. I was going 90 in a 65, didn't feel like I was going 55. He only wrote me for 9 over so I was happy. So far so good, I don't think I will ever fall out of love with this car!

Yeah, we couldn't tell how fast the V was going until it hit triple digits, then only because it had a very slight vibration in the front. Since then we got a bent wheel fixed so I think the speed limiter is the only limit!

Sounds like you have the true XLR spirit - look forward to meeting up at an event sometime.

Over 3 decades in the service. We all thank you!!! :patriot::patriot::patriot:

Pretty darned CS of the cop to write you, IMO. What was HE driving? Sometimes I find myself wondering, "Hmmmm.... wonder what HE has under the hood...". Kind of a fantasy, but it comes up all too frequently when I'm riding my bike. :D

Enjoy your ride! :blinzel:

Congratulations on your new acquisition!

Like others have said, you will really enjoy your new XLR. They are very complex cars and demand special treatment. Please study the owners manual very thoroughly.

Lots of good help available here, plenty of folks with lots of knowledge about these technically complex beauties.

You don't live near Blythewood, do you?

Congratulations on first place! I'm sure that made you guys feel great. I would have loved to have seen all those Cadillac's in one place. The wife and I will be in the Virgin Islands for our anniversary during the Carmel show. To bad, I was saying in another post how much we love the Indianapolis area. I'll be sure to let up on the gas in the future, like I said, I hadn't gotten a speeding ticket for about 15 years or more. It was just my excitement and a nice open I95 on a Sunday morning that got the best of me :reddevil

That's cool enjoy you Virgin Island Anniversary trip!
