I put my XLR down for its LOOONNGGGG winter nap today...:(:(. REALLY looking forward to having everyone up here next June for the drive... I'll have not had it awoke for very long, and it will be ready to LET LOOSE!!!!

It must be frustrating to have to put your XLR away for the winter, but I certainly understand the necessity of doing so in the northern climates.

I am fortunate that snow and ice are rare commodities where I live, and that I have great opportunities to drive and enjoy my XLR year-round.

So, sleep well you XLR beauties. Rest well in your snug garages and dream of of springtime, when once again you can be the object of desire for all who see you!

Yes, it IS frustrating and sad when I put her to sleep for around 6 months, but OOOHHHH the thrill of the first drive in spring. I think I put her away just in time - a HIGH of 32 on Wednesday this week, and a low 19 Wednesday night... BRRRRRRR

Hi Rod. Alas, I too will be wintering my 05 this weekend. Winter is colder here in Manitoba than it is in Montana, so have no choice but to put her asleep. Since this is the first year I have owned my car, can you give me any tips on what you do to winter your car?
Thanks. Appreciate it.

Not really too much to do... I simply wash it, cover it, plug in the battery maintainer (an absolute MUST) and let it set.

So sorry to hear that all ya'll are going into hibernation for the long winter's nap.:sleeping: I have rarely had the top up since I got mine in May.:love: Luv it Luv it. We are just coming into high season and this will be my first to run with big boy toys i.e. the Bentleys, Porches, Jaguars, Mercedes and Ferraris. Although I did see a silver XLR ahead of me in traffic but, he got away at the signal so I don't know what year or model. I just got the sway bar installed and am going on a road trip to visit my money in Lost Wages:lol::blinzel:
So, we'll if we notice any difference.

Nice. I too just got mine in oct and have hardly put the top up. It's been to nice of weather even though the scare of dark clouds. But the wind just blows them away.

I have a question. I thought that I read somewhere here that leaving the car for a while is not good. I have done it for my Honda crv for 2 1/2 months before but with the xlr I think it's different. I'll be leaving next yr for 75 days and won't be driving it :( it'll be staying in my garage. Is there anything I should do or get so I can be prepared. So when I return it'll start right up. ie battery saver. Thanks

I'd definitely put it on a battery maintainer. Actually, as I stated above, all I do is wash it, cover it, plug in the battery maintainer (an absolute MUST) and let it set - for 6-7 months - so it should be fine for 75 days.

All of the above, but I bump the tire pressure up 10 - 15 psi above normal ratings.

I winter my cars by adding the proper amount of fuel stablizer, gas line antifreeze, and topping up the tank to prevent condensation from forming. I also put about 10 lbs extra in the tires to prevent flat spotting. I also try to go for a ride now and then (not far) when the roads are free from salt just to keep it lubricated.
