Welcome to the Cadillac XLR Forums!

big day for my XLR

Tell me about the Corsa's

Tell me about the corsa's. I'm thinking Trixie needs them. How much are they and what do they sound like. The new boat has got all the toys lately. I'm thinking its trixie's turn.

Remember when you were a kid, and clipped baseball cards on the spokes of your bicycle to get the cool sound? Well putting a CORSA exhaust on your XLR is many, many times COOLER.:cool::cool:

I installed CORSA on Crystal on January 16th and can hardly keep my foot out of it.

I bought the CORSA 14156 exhaust from U.S. Parts Outlet for $1568.99 tax & freight included. A local muffler shop installed for $200.
I also installed the Volant COI at the same time. I'm new to the forum, is it ok to name drop?

The Corsa exhuast system, by far, is the best upgrade to your XLR. I put one one my wife's '06 XLR almost 2 years ago and it is awesome. I'm fighting the urge to put one on my XLR V. I put Corsa exhaust on my '08 Shelby GT500 and again, awesome. :rocker:

It seems the going rate from what I've found is $1700-1800.

Usually $150-200 to have the system installed seems to be the going rate.

Also, I use names on the forum all the time and I haven't been told I couldn't.

Dave - My Corsa exhaust is also my favorite upgrade to my XLR. I love it so much, I installed them on my SRX (I like hearing the sound in the winter too) :chuckle

Go ahead, pull the trigger... worth every penny. :)

Like every post you read on here not one says you will not like it! My Roxy came with it I thought it was factory until later on here on the forum I found out it was added aftermarket SURE I'M GLAD IT WAS very mellow at standard cruising but you can hear and feel the performance when you get on it! Believe everyone on here you will not be disappointed! I SAY GO FOR IT AND MAKE SOME NOISE AND JOIN CORSA GANG!!!

This is sounding like something I want. My only question is when your cruising down the hi way. Is it quit like the stock or is there a drone to it? I love the sound when you get on it but I like quiet when I'm cruising down thehi way

I think it is mostly mellow I do not know the original sound as I mentioned Roxy came with Corsa Exhaust, but unless down shifting into lower gear it is not very loud! We just took Roxy to Hilton Head SC this past week and after driving 7-9 hours we did NOT feel like we was overwhelmed by the exhaust noise! If your driving with the radio on you really don't notice the exhaust! I believe there is a few You Tube Videos of Corsa sounds if you try google Corsa Exhaust Videos

There is NO DRONE with the Corsa. I had JBA 3" exhaust on my Shelby and it was miserable to drive 35 mph and above. It sounded like you were in a 55 gallon barrel with drone and you couldn't talk to your passenger.

After putting Corsa exhaust on Amy's XLR "Beauty", it sounded great and no drone. Based on that experience, I've since but Corsa exhaust on my Shelby and now it sounds even better and NO DRONE.

The Corsa Exhaust System won't disappoint.

I like the selectability of the stock exhaust with a "Mild to Wild" set up. The stock exhaust can drone in open mode at slower highway speeds with the roof up.

The base XLR's are not equipped with baffles so "mild to wild" set up won't work......only on the V's.

I love the sound of the Corsa! has a nice rumble to it but nothing annoying, just a great sound (especially on acceleration). So far, the best upgrade I've made to the XLR.

I have to agree with these two guys... My Corsa exhaust is my favorite upgrade (even have them on my SRX V8), no drone on the highway, only hear the exhaust when you step on it... And when you step on it; you here 'em! You'll love the Corsa, Dave!

here is a photo of the Volant CAI that I had the guys at Davenport Motorsports install:

Cabin air filter door

I noticed in your pictures (nice set-up on the CAI :rocker:) that your cabin filter door behind your battery is hanging. Be sure to clip it back in place because I have seen several at the dealer with the filter door missing.

thanks for the heads up, I fixed the cover.

this week the NEO bluetooth module and Kawal harness arrived, hopefully I'll get a chance to install this weekend.

Today I suddenly had a service engine light appear. Its been wet here lately so I'm not sure if it is related to that or not. Strangely, it came on after a bit of a hard brake. I'll do some searching on the forums and see if I can find anything, otherwise it will be off to the dealer to get it checked out.

Now I just wish my Forgeline wheels would arrive!

Most likely the MAS (Mass Air Sensor) is sending the code. It probably needs cleaned, since you put the CAI on. It happened on my '04 when I put the CAI on it. Make sure the filters aren't over oiled, that is the culprit most of the time.

it was a big day today for my XLR;

  • picked up a Optima Red Top battery
  • ordered headlamp assemblies, harnesses and the rear sway bar assembly (thanks MTRocket)
  • ordered powder coated brake calipers in crystal red w/black brackets (thanks CadillacTech)
  • ordered the Corsa exhaust and Volant CAI through my local performance shop (oddly, the cost was almost the same in Canada as the USA - something we rarely see!)

I'll install the Red Top this weekend but the other items are a few weeks away (plus I'll need good weather to make the run down to MTRocket's shop)

almost feels like Christmas :)

christmas in april. congrats to you.

Good luck with the CoStar BT module. I hope you have better luck than I. Keep an eye out for the unit staying on and draining your battery.

so excited! I got the call today from Davenport Motorsports and my forgeline wheels, tires and big brake kit should be here next week! The XLR is booked in for April 29th and they will need it for a few days. Can't wait!

Got a link to a picture of those wheels? I am going to assume you will post pictures of the set up post installation! ;)
