If I didn't already have a good aftermarket radio from my previous vehicle, I would have definitely bought the Max Din from Knight Drive TV.

However, since I did have this $1200+ radio with backup camera, bluetooth, ipod integration, a ton of sound quality customization, etc.... I chose the cheaper option. Though, it still cost me about $300 for the Metra installation kit :-(

The real issue with going this route was getting the trim panel to look decent. If I had black interior, I would definitely done what this guy did: Replaced Radio/Navigation unit in my 2009

However, I have the shale interior, and the black plastic from the Metra kit is not a good look. I found another guy who wrapped his in vinyl, which turned out okay... so I had extra leather from my steering wheel project. The thick leather was a real pain, but I think it turned out okay.

The part I like best is actually the 1.5 din pocket under the radio for my ipod and my cell phone. I 3d printed it using PLA with carbon fiber. Now that I have the leather wrap done, I might adjust the pocket design a little bit to fit better.

Anyway, hope this helps somebody... if you don't already have a good radio laying around... I would definitely recommend buying the Max Din from Knight Drive TV. Pictures of various ideas below.
