Make sure and check the A/C evaporator drain tube on your XLR. If the tube gets pinched or restricted, water can drain into the car @ the passenger side footwell area & damage things like the BCM and inside fuse panel. On a humid day with the A/C on, you should see water dripping out from under the passenger side of the car. The drain tube can be cleared with a long blow gun & small amount of compressed air... be gentle, you don't want to blow the evaporator out of the car.

Thank you Bruce - I'll check mine tonight, when I get home... it is HOT, HOT, HOT here in Chicago!

Ditto....will check mine also, speaking of hot, hot, hot....101 degrees here in Richmond heat index of 106.

Sounds like great advice, but I don't see where I have access to it. Can you get to it via under the hood? I'm not sure where the drain tube is. :dunno:

Tim

You can get to the drain from underhood but it's easiest to clean it out from under the car. You can ask to have it checked during an oil change or anytime your XLR is in the air.

Owe a big THANKS to Bruce for posting this info - I didn't exactly follow instructions & get this drain checked as a routine thing:smash:, but thought of this info when I had a mildewy smell coming out of the vents & the water dripping from under the car was less than usual (this car puts out more water with the AC on than any car I've ever had). Got the drain checked & sure enough it was clogged.

I never would have thought of that absent Bruce's posting, & because I've never had a car develop that kind of problem before. I probably would have ignored it until the module got fried. So thanks, Bruce - disaster avoided! :worship:
