Help! FALSE MESSAGE OF DOOR OPEN

Hi all..anyone with experience of driver info message of door being open when it is not...also..red door light seems to stay on when that message is on dash..Door feels like it is latched and not open or loose..Appreciate any input...

There are a number of things that can cause this problem. I don't know your level of repair skills, so I wouldn't want to steer you in a direction that might make the problem worse.

The fastest way to troubleshoot this problem is the probably the last advice you want to hear: Take it to a dealer and have them connect their scan tool to look at the Door Ajar parameters in the Body Control Module (BCM) data list to determine if it's the switch, wiring problem in the door latch harness, interconnects to the BCM, door latch, or Instrument Panel Cluster.

They might be able to determine the fault without having to remove the door panel, meaning you can come back here for a procedure to replace whatever they find yourself.

Hi all...just a follow up to my starting this thread...
Apparently my door was not lined up somehow so there was an issue with sensor contact... was not the Module..My mechanic did whatever adjustment needed to get door lined up. Message is gone and the pressure pad seems to be working better when attempting to open the door...
Still think I am going to replace the Pad anyway as new ones not expensive ...
