I KEEP HAVING SOME PEOPLE AT CAR SHOWS ASKING IF MY XLR HAS THE CORVETTE MOTOR IN IT? DO ALL XLR OR DOES THE XLR-V HAVE A CORVETTE MOTOR? JUST WONDERING IS NORTHSTAR V-8 WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT? ANY INPUT WOULD BE APPRECIATED!

No corvette motor in any XLR or XLR-V The Northstar is Cadillac and i think was put is some Buicks.

I believe what their referring too is the v and the engine block. It's either a LS design or a LS block. Other than that the only similarities is the C6 chassis. That's what they needed to put in these cars for the money LS 9 with a six speed. Still love it anyway.

Thx guys this would explain why they may think of it as a Corvette motor!

Actually, NO XLR's had a Corvette engine in them. The Base model has the 4.6 Northstar, which is a Cadillac engine. The V's have a 4.4 Supercharged Northstar, which is an engine specifically designed by Cadillac for the XLR V.

I hear that all the time also. I am sure they are not even knowing what an xlr is when they ask. The cts-v is the car with the same engine as a vette and the people don't even realize they are talking about two different cars.

That is a real possibility, Taking into consideration that most people never saw an XLR!
