I'm contemplating the exchange for chrome OEM rims for my '06 V. I've not done business with these guys but have read a favorable comment or two from forum members. My concern is their handling of the security deposit. I really can't speak to whether my rims have been "worked on" before I purchased the vehicle. I know three of them had to be "adjusted" in some manner to allow them to be balanced (on CarMax's dime) during my first month of ownership. The alloy wheel specialist also polished them... all on location at the alignment shop. I haven't experienced any issue with them in the two years since.

I also have a bit of curb rash on my right front wheel from a mis-park at a local restaurant (dang it!), but I wouldn't consider it severe... but would they? I actually think the approx. $800 for the exchange is reasonable, but don't want to pay any more. The "opportunity" exists for additional charges based on the wheel's perceived condition which would be deducted from the $1300 security deposit.

I suppose I'm seeking reassurance from anyone that has done this as to whether their experience has been above board and positive. Three thousand miles is a long distance for "haggling" over the phone, which is something I'd rather not engage. Thanks for any thoughts, input or comments!

i have done business with them twice.
once for a set of chrome 2008 XLR wheels(presently on my 09 now) with no exchange. sold original 09 chromes to a forum member in NC
second time i exchanged a set of 2004 toyota highlander stocks for a set of stock chromes, no problems with the exchange.

If in doubt give them a call on their 800 number. They were easy to talk with when I called . they might even accept photos of your wheels by email.

i am currently considering an exchange of my 08 STS wheels.

I dealt with them also, but they are in my backyard. I would suggest sending a picture of the offending area and try and get their reading on it. They seem up & up though.

Thanks for the response, guys! I'll give them a call and perhaps send a picture of the rashed area to get their opinion before taking any action. I'd like to coordinate the wheel exchange with a new set of tires, as it is almost time.

I'm not generally apprehensive about these things, but have known instances where deposits have been partially or completely forfeited for no good reason.

I have dealt with them twice on the exchange program. The first time for a chrome set on my '04 XLR base model; no previous wheel damage and no problem getting deposit back. The next set was for my '06 XLR-V. Again no noticeable damage, but they did tell me one rim I returned needed straightening and they deducted a small fee. Also because I had dealt with them previously, I received, I think, a 10% discount from their pricing, so in reality I didn't lose any of my deposit. If you are sceptical, just give them a call, they are very easy to work with!!
