This morning my wife opened the passenger side visor vanity and both hinges broke off the lid remaining in the mirror half of the hinge.
Does anyone know where I can get the lid ((black) at a reasonable cost and wether it is just a pop in piece, or requires some more intense installation?
Thanks for you help!

The only way the vanity hinged lid is with the entire sunvisor. List $150.21 Part #15241874. I can get it to you for $120+shipping. Chances are you can get it for less at gmpartsdirect.com though.

I've got a spare in my parts box. PM me with your address and I'll ship it free of charge.

Wow, thank you so much! Just sent the PM

Thank you so much ccclarke! I received the visor earlier this week and my 12 year old son installed it in minutes!
I am totally wowed and blessed by your kindness and generosity!
Thanks!

That's great to hear... that was very nice of ccclarke. We really do have a special group here! Way to take care of one another. :rocker:

Does anyone know the part number for the driver's side black visor?

Thanks,
Steve

Steve,

Did you get your visor issue resolved? Digging around in the usual after Christmas way I found an unused black cloth driver side XLR visor that I received but it did not match my 2008. It's like a felt or velour type black cloth. Has a tag with "Code: 215" on it but that doesn't mean anything to me.

Any use to you?

SSchooley,

I picked up an '09 visor off ebay and it is suede and does not match my RH cloth visor. I installed it anyways and like the way it ties together the perforated suede insert in the seats. So now I bought the RH visor for $25 off ebay and will install that when it arrives. So it looks like I am set.

I am having trouble with the homelink though. I can reset by pushing the two outside buttons and get the lights flashing but when I attempt the learning step I cannot get a homelink button to flash (and I have tried all 3 buttons).

Thanks,
Steve

There are Homelink brand openers in early XLRs, but later ones are burdened with a cheap knockoff: Lear Car2U. Homelink has a single light, Lear has 3 lights.

The Lear has NO learning capability. You can use it only with garage door openers which can learn from the remote (e.g. have a "learn" button), or with units that use fixed codes, usually set with switches.

Since you said "lights" you probably have the Lear and need to follow the instructions in a 2008-2009 manual to get it to work with a garage door. If you have a community gate, existing solutions probably don't apply since you are not using the original opener. (In the case of my 2008, Lear first offered to replace the visor with one preprogrammed for the gate, and when they could not source the parts, wound up arranging to install a second receiver on the community gate.)

This brings back some memories....It is how I ended up having an unused visor to give away.

That's it, I have the Lear but was following the Homelink instructions. You guys are awesome, thank you.
