Is there a way to reset the program of the L and R outside mirror. When I set the driver 1 program seat. I think I hit a button so now the L mirror won't lower (like the R) when I put it in reverse. I looked in the book, but I might have looked over how to reprogram.

I can't answer that but I am curious why you would want to look down on the drivers side? there is no curb there? I never even realized that side moved down also.

They suppose to lower when you are backing up. But I think when I set the seat for my fob I hit some other button. Because only the right lowers when I put the car in reverse.

I'm not sure if other years differ or not - but I believe most Cadillacs ONLY lower the passenger mirror. I have 3 Cadillacs and a GMC Denali - all with "curb assist" and only the SRX actually has the option to lower BOTH mirrors - the others only lower the Right mirror (Denali, DTX and XLR).

Dave I'm sure there is a reason for the driver mirror to lower, what is it?

I move my driver's mirror down manually as well as the passenger mirror when I back into a parking place . This is either to see the parking lines ; sometimes there is a curb on that side and not on the passenger side, if in a parking lot. I would very much prefer both mirrors to move down, but on the XLR, only the right side does.

I have a STS that has a switch so you can pick either the driver or passenger mirror to lower. I lower the driver mirror every day when I park at work because I back into a corner with a curb behind & on the driver side. To keep from getting door dings, I park as close to the driver side curb as I can, & lowering the driver's side mirror helps keep me from clobbering either curb. Plus I like that better than hanging my head out the window!

Just like the STS the mirrors on the XLR lower in reverse depending on the position of the mirror selector switch. You can select the drivers, center off where neither of the mirrors lower, or the passengers.

Steve,

I cannot find anything in the XLR Owners Manual that indicates this feature you describe. If yours does this, could it be an "aftermarket" feature installed? Just curious.

I would be interested in that information also. I have an Escalade that will allow you to pick one or both mirrors to dip for curb assist parking but my wife's XLR only would let you pick the passenger side. I haven't had a chance to set the parking assist on my XLR-V. I would be extremely happy if it would let me use both because I back in everywhere I park.

Correction... I thought I remembered being able to select either mirror on the XLR, but after trying it this evening I find that only the passenger mirror will lower regardless of the position of the mirror selection switch. The STS does allow you to select either mirror. My mistake! I am contantly amazed at the differences between GM models and brands like this. It seems that there is little communication between each vehicle design team. The most frustrating one is the steering wheel volume control. On my Silverado it is the right outside button and on the XLR and STS it is the right inside button so I am always changing stations instead of lowering the volume when I switch cars.

The srx has both mirrors lower too. My mom got tired of that the 1st month of owning the car so my sister (at the time was her sales person) changed the settings in the menu. So now her srx doesn't lock automatically when or if she leaves her fob in the car either.

Too bad it didn't work - I was hoping it would since I realized I just assumed only the passenger dipped because it was programmable, & never tried the driver side.

Good point on the design team stuff, which is a problem even when the vehicles are the same make - my XLR & STS are only two years apart, but the steering wheel control for the volume & channels are reversed on each. My STS has volume on the outside edge, XLR has the channel change there. So I have the same thing happen that you do when I switch up. Granted, to me it makes more sense to put the volume control on the outside, but it's really irritating that they changed it.

One of the features on Crimson Pearl that I really like is the "express" feature on the power windows, both up and down.

In my Tahoe, the "express" feature only works on "down". I suspect that this was changed for "safety" reasons.

Crimson Pearl is a 2005 model, do the later model XLRs such as the 2008 and 2009 models still have the "express" up feature?

I don't know about later model XLR's, but '08 STS's have express up. Although as we've seen from this thread, that doesn't mean the XLR's have it at all from those years ...

My '07 has the "express up" feature on both windows as well. I'm pretty sure all XLR's have it...

My 2009 CTS4 sports package has BOTH mirrors go down in reverse - it helps when backing in between the lines ....
