2006 Red Jewel
Purchased my XLR in 2006. Current mileage is 23,500 with no problems. Recently did not start until charging the battery. Thought I was finished after idling for 30 minutes. Shut down and tried to restart to no avail. Knew the battery was fully charged and re-engaged the push button starter and heard a loud click as if the solenoid was engaging. Pushed the starter again and held for about five seconds. The clicking repeated about six times and the engine started. Can someone pin point this problem for me before I have it taken to the dealer for service? I appreciate any assistance and thank you in advance. Regards rahilljr007 :dunno:.

Welcome to the XLR Net!

I'm going to move your thread into the XLR Tech forum for greater exposure.

30 minutes if idling will not fully charge a battery. Have battery checked with a load test to see if its any good. It generally takes 8 hours to full charge a battery on slow charge.

The barrery was replaced last year and it has started as advertised until lately; however, shall follow your advice and charge overnight. Thanks:)

Depends on the cranking power of the battery. If it's a stock type replacement, it's not strong enough for the car. There's a small current draw that's inherent in the XLR due to the passive remote lock/unlock always on.

Noted and thanks for the input. Will keep it on trickle charge to offset the drain. Have a Great Day!!

Lot of us owners have changed out batteries for an Optima or Odyssey batteries. I did 2 years ago and haven't had one problem since and don't have to hook up a trickle charger

What battery did you use. Both Optima & Odyssey say they dont have a battery to fit XLR.

The search tool is your friend here. There's plenty of postings about batteries.

This is what I got almost 3 years ago. Odyssey PC1500 34R battery

If you decide on this one make sure it's a 34R, and not just plain 34. The battery posts are reversed on the 34R to match the battery cable's position in the car.
