Thought I'd share images of my tail light replacement as I was unable to find any clear images of either the backside of the lights or the fender area on line. The old unit had one line of leds go out. $600+ was cost shipped from gm parts direct.
Basic removal process is unscrew 2 small bolts located under the trimcaps, get fingers under the bottom of the light and yank straight back. Look at the images and you will see that the light is secured by the two metal posts that fit into holes in the body and a plastic clip located at the thinest section of the light that slides underneath the rear fender panel. Mine was on extremely tight and took a lot of effort to break free. Make sure you cover or tape up you bumper to avoid scratching the paint when it let's loose. I learned this the hard way of course.
