Hi (again).
After one problem is solved a new one starts...:chuckle
My 2005 won't start and a message in the DIC says "service steering column lock".
The Tech 2 says code B2515.
This may not be a code for US cars as I think that the steering lock is just for export cars (?).
When I google this I see that it is a problem on Corvette C5's and C6's with the same code and same issues.
Anyone here had the same problem?

Remi

You are correct Remi, that module is not applicable for US-bound XLRs when running diagnostic testing. It will register as a failure during the full diagnostic test.

Steering column lock

Hello Remi,

I have the same problem with my XLR 2005 export France (GUJAN MESTRAS GIRONDE)
I'm trying to solve it.
Can you tell me how you solved it?
Thank you.

Hi.
This might be too late for you. I had the same issue with my 2006 XLR european export model. There is an original GM module that is not a direct "bolt on" but fairly easy to install (it took my local garage about 2 hours to install)

Antsu

Is it a sort of "bypass" to install ? (Corvette C6 has the same thing)

Yes, it´s a bypass module. It overrides the original program but still allows the column lock to work. At least in Finland steering column lock is mandatory and you won´t pass your mot if it does not work.

Antsu

the same in Belgium...

Don't exist a video how to change the modul ?

Since one week, the bypass (Coret C6) is installed ; 'm hapy no ore stress to start !!...

Since one week the bypass (Corvette C6) is installed; no more stress to start now !!!...; I'm happy !!!

My german XLR had a problem yesterday. The car won't start.... all electronics are available, battery was good, but by pushing the start-button the car keeps quiet :-((((
The roof was open an my car was not moveable, because the steering was LOCKED. Not funny situation....

After hours of trying reset battery an touching all wires and praying and so on, suprise, the starter was turning. don't know why?!

In the owners manual there is no hint, how i can open the steering lock?! You can't put the car on a trailer, that sucks!

First, put un new battery in your remove control...
After,if the case will come again, you have to order un Corvette C6 "bypass".
Attention this modul is ok for te XLR but the plug is not the same (bridge nenecessary) so give this job for your garage (+- 30 minutes to kwork).
My bypass was come from France; http://www.us-import-specialist.com,/ He's serious and quickly (called Jérôme).

I hope it will work out for you because I know it's very annoying as breakdown !!

Where are you living in Germany?

Jean-Luc.

Thank you very much Jean-Luc!

And with the bypass, the steering lock is open for every time?
But it works only, wenn I mount the bypass, during the lock is open? (Whats when its closed?). The lock is open, when engine is running, so I have to install it at a running engine, right?

(Living in the northern black-forest, near Pforzheim (between Karlsruhe & Stuttgart). An you, where in Belgium?)
Let us organize a big "Europe-XLR-Meeting".... - with 2 Cars :chuckle

Regards!

The notice is good made; you have to put the accessory mode to install the bypass.

I live by Francorhamps- welcome to you !

I've tried to replace the instrument-panel... :-(
I'm not able to push the (red marked, Photo 1) plastic-part back, because it's fixed underneath (see the red arrows, there it is firm, photo 002 & 003). How I can loose it? All screws are replaced....
(Its neccessary to loose this part before, to replace the instrument-panel)
