I have been reading a number of posts on indexing your windows. When you store your car for winter and put a cover on it as well as disconnect your battery does the group feel your windows should be fully up , down or down a little bit. I am beginning to think the windows should be down before you disconnect your battery. I had a bit of a problem indexing one of my windows this time as I put them up before storage but in previous years I left them down and had no problems.

There's no need to disconnect the battery during storage. A Battery Tender (or Minder) connected during the winter months will prevent the battery from sulphating, keeping it in tip-top shape for the warm-weather driving season.

Seems to me unhooking the battery for a length of time would screw with the memory. My car was delivered when purchased and in doing so they disconnected the battery for safety reasons. When my car arrived after a day most everything had to be reset, seats, mirrors, doors, etc. The dealership had to reset the memory indexing on the drivers door. Passenger side was fine. Maybe a fluke on my car but...

With the exception of the window indexing all my settings have been saved when I have had my battery disconnected. I have been surprised. This is the first winter I have had a problem with my windows.

May have to do with age. As they get older they start developing a personality. Certain things happen or not.

Window indexing

Had the same problem. Windows wouldn't index after the car was at Cadillac. A mechanic friend of mine told me, with the motor running, hold the window express down button (keep it pressed), for a few seconds after its down. Do the same thing with the up button. Worked for me. He said it re-learns.
