Got the XLR out of storage Friday. I seem to forget from year to year just how much FUN this car is to drive!!! WHAT AN AUTOMOBILE!!! Even just the block from where I keep her over the winter to the shop was a BLAST!!! 60's & 70's here all week.
It seems every year when I get the XLR moving after her winter sleep, I have a problem with the top. Usually, it's the tonneau cover not moving from under the trunk lid. This time the top went down beautifully, but when coming up is when the problem occurred. The tonneau pops back but the top doesn't move to come up. It goes in tomorrow morning for diagnosis and repair.

I hate that you folks in the northern climates need to put your XLRs into storage over the winter, but I DO understand it, as I spent a winter in Illinois back in 1984/1985. I well remember when the weather warmed up and the "nice" cars started to come out.

We have certainly had a very mild winter here in the southeast, and lots of beautiful days to have an XLR out and about. My problem has been that business has been very good and I have had to be very disciplined to work and not go out for a joyride.

I did get Crimson Pearl out for a short romp about a week ago, even though it was just for a short bit. Hoping to take a few days off in April and make a trip to Charleston (SC).

Let us know what the issue was with the top on your car.

First drive

There's nothing like that first drive after a long winter's nap. Enjoy the warm weather.

We love spring! Washed & waxed Beauty this weekend as next weekend looks to be TOP DOWN! :jump:

Also, Hubby told me he made reservations for the Pa. trip. :rocker: Yayyyy!

Got the XLR back from the shop this afternoon... apparently the tech determined that the BCM lost ALL of it's memory. Don't know how or when... he thought maybe the battery had run down over the winter? After I told the dealership I had a maintainer on it all winter, and it started right up first time after uncovering for the winter (I still had the seat memory, all radio presets, etc. after starting) ... they were dumbfounded. Had to totally reprogram the BCM... they spent about 5 hours, only charged me for 3. Everything works, even shifts smoother.
Anybody have any ideas why the BCM would lose it's memory???
