Greeting's,

The battery on my XLR died and I was able to use the key to get in the trunk and pull the door release.

But the windows did not drop to open the door. How do I open the door if the window doesn't drop?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Jessica

You should be able to still get the door open. Once you get the battery charged and/or replaced, you will have to re-index the windows. Press and hold the window button down for about five seconds, then press and hold the button up for five seconds. You'll have to do both windows and they will then be good to go. You won't be able to put the top down until you do this.

Thank you!

Thank you, I was able to get the window down. Had to pull the latch cable just a bit harder... I was afraid I would snap the cable.

Got the windows re-initialized.

Thank you again for your assistance.

No, I am not.

I don't think I would have been strong enough to survive. I would have lasted 5 minutes.

Thanks for asking....

Have a great day.

Jessica, Welcome to the forum! Please share with us what year and color your XLR is. We often have XLR events, one is coming up in Virginia Beach in May of 2015. Check it out under "Events"!

welcome,
fyi the battery will drain on these cars pretty quickly if its not driven frequently and if its an older battery.
if your battery is suspect and more than a few yrs old, replace it, and get a battery tender to maintain it if it wont be driven alot.
lots of good posts here on the site about battery replacement and battery tenders.
if you are in the northeast you might be putting the xlr away for months in the winter, the battery will die if you leave it that long, even a new battery.
the xlr seems to have more electrical draw than most cars when parked.
also keep your fobs at least 25 feet from the car. or the car will stay in an awake mode and run the battery down within days.
if its parked inside you might want to leave the drivers side window down so you can reach in to the emergency door release lever, in case the battery goes dead. lever is located on the door sill below your left knee sort of. passenger side has one too.

Thank you all for the welcomes and advise. I will look into the battery tender.

Thanks
