We're actually going to Miles City (140 miles East of Billings)... where Cindy's folk's live. Cindy's Mom had emergency gallbladder surgery yesterday... thankfully all is well. The Dr. said it was a good thing they caught it when they did... her gallbladder was close to rupturing. So, we'll be in Miles City helping out at home while Mom is recuperating.

We are spending Saturday at my son's baseball games - they made it to the CHAMPIONSHIP series. Two wins and they are CHAMPS! On the 4th, heading over to my mom's for her annual 4th of July party. Always a fun time with family.

SOMETIME over the weekend, need to find time to start packing for HAWAII (leaving next Wednesday).

Heading north to the eastern suburbs of Cleveland on one of the days to visit family and swim with our six kids in my sister's pool. (And I'm still trying to figure out a way to fit all eight of us into the XLR.) Staying home on the other day to swim in our lake, grill out, and drink a Molsons Ice or two (or three, or......). You would too if you had six young kids!!

I am looking forward to 3 wonderful days of warm weather, I have some yard work to do, I need to wash the cars, I look forward to seeing Kathy & Bruce, and the rest of my family.
I am thankful that I live in a country, (the best country in the word) the good old USA, where we can still "celebrate our independence " and where we can still buy and drive the cars and trucks we want, travel as we like, and have wonderful friends like all of you.

I'm playing golf at Bear Slide in Cicero. Also, having 20 people over for a cookout. It's going to be a fun weekend and the weather looks like it will cooperate!

Our car club has an annual family picnic at one of the riverside homes here in
Colonial Beach. We get about 60 classic, muscle, rods, etc parked along the water. As this is a town that the State has allowed Golf carts to drive on our streets. Most of these carts coming to the picnic will be decorated for the 4th. Many of the residents and visitors to the beach come by to check out the cars.
Plenty of good food, oldie music and fun. Hope everyone in the forum has a great Independence Day. Remember our troops on this special day. John

I am planning to drive "Little Bugger" in the parade Saturday in Monument, Colo. It is said to be the biggest 4th of July parade in the State. I will be with the Al Kaly Shrine Flivvers Club. Hopefully we will enjoy top down weather. 20% chance of rain predicted but it may pass us over as it has been doing.

I plan to bypass the crowded beaches and stay home. I'm going to get in my blow-up pool, listen to some Jimmy Buffett, have a margarita, and pretend that I am vacationing in the Bahamas!

We do exactly the same thing every year .... family and friends at my sisters .... pool, BBQ and walk over and watch the town's fireworks.... we always end up sunburned and happy and I hope it is the same this year ...

4th of July!

Let us all remember what the 4th of July really stands for, it is Independance Day, the day our ancestors fought so that we might live in a country that is free of the King's rule. Let us give thanks to those brave men and think about the state of our nation today, our forefathers are probably turning over in their graves if they know our country is burdened with such an outlandish debt, no longer the leading industrialized nation of the world. If you get a chance drive to Louisville, Kentucky and visit the National Headquarters of the Sons of The American Revolution of which I am a proud member and refresh your memory about the 4th of July. I have five direct ancestors that fought for our freedom in the Revolution. My grandfather was in the Civil War, my father in WWI, my brother in WWII & Korea, I was in the Korean War, my sister in the Viet Nam war, my grandson served in Japan and Iraq. Guess my family has always stood for freedom. We also have represented all branches, father was Navy, brother and I Army, sister Air Force, grandson Marine and a grand nephew who is married to a Coast Guard lady.

First Robin, that was amazing. What a family history! We needed that reminder so that we may appreciate the freedom that we have! Thanks to all of our military for making so many sacrifices and for being so devoted to preserving our freedom!

We are headed up to northen Indiana tomorrow morning to spend the day with Todd and Karen(Whit & Coyote Karen). It will be great to see them again and Todd's new ZR1. It should be a great day.

Mmmmmmm bacon...............this is a heart attack waiting to happen.

Handmade ground beef patties, topped with sharp cheddar cheese, wrapped in a bacon weave.then the next step, add hotdogs as the heads, legs and tail.

Place on an oven rack, covered loosely with foil and baked for 20-30 minutes at 400 degrees. A little crispy, not too crunchy...just how a turtle should be, no?

I drove in the parade in Monument this morning but not with the Flivvers Shrine Club. I was lined up with them and then was asked if I would drive the Potentate so I was the official car for the Potentate with 8 Motorcycles as escorts, four in front and four in back. We were number 10 group in the parade and it took us forty minutes from start to finish. I don't know what time the parade was over as I headed for home as soon as I crossed the finish line. Lots of great comments on the XLR as always. I think there were over fifty groups in the parade.
