Thanks Chad working on that right now!

Kind 'of makes me appreciate what Jim did to get the RII and RIII together in Bowling Green!! How did he ever do it, over the phone mostly, and while in NM? As I look back on that,,,, if I didn't say it then,, I'll say it now, Thanks Jim!!

If I can help to get anything going on this BG trip, let me know!!
Chad

Read the post I posted today about dates we need to start by picking a date. I'm trying to get a hold of who made the voting chart (I think it was Cadillac Tech) for the XLR brick and make one up for this event!

:party2013 XLR 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY EVENT INFORMATION :party

I HAD CHECK IN WITH THE NCM TODAY TO SEE WHAT DATES ARE AVAILABLE FOR OUR FALL 2013 XLR EVENT 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY
I only checked on these 2 weekends below because these seemed to be the best ones most of you was posting about.

I did NOT the check the weekend of Sept. 20th because I had read that the MAM FunFest is scheduled for Sept. 20-22 2013.

THE LAST WEEKEND IN SEPTEMBER STARTING THURSDAY TO SUNDAY - 26th-29th IS OPEN BUT FRIDAY EVE OF THE 27th IS BOOKED FOR A EVENING NAVY DINNER (they said this dinner may be in held in the Conference area or the Dome)

THE FIRST WEEKEND IN OCTOBER STARTING THURSDAY TO SUNDAY - 3rd-6th IS COMPLETELY OPEN AS OF RIGHT NOW!

NOTICE:THEY SAID WE SHOULD PROBABLY PENCIL IN A DATE BECAUSE OF WEDDINGS AND SUCH IF WE WANT TO USE THE CONFERENCE AREA AT OVERHEAD PILLION AREA

:dunno: DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THERE IS AWAY TO CONTACT ALL MEMBER HERE ON THE FORUM TO ADVISE THEM OF THIS EVENT? :dunno:

IF WE WANT TO MAKE THIS EVENT A "REALITY" WE MUST PICK A DATE AND START PLANNING NOW!

I personally, would love to see this happen. Unfortunately I have been so busy at work (and this will continue probably all year); that I cannot be too involved in the "planning" of such an event - I understand how much time other members have dedicated to pulling off past XLR events. But I would do whatever I could to assist (polo shirts, hats, dash plaques, etc...). I am going to put the dates on my calendar right now (Oct. 3rd-6th) to make sure that weekend is open for me to head down to Bowling Green. I think that once we can get a concensus on the date - if we let NCM know so they can hold the date for us, that would be a step in the right direction.

Bruce - could you put some kind of "invite" poll on this thread that we could see how many members would be interested on an Oct. 3-6 event/get together in Bowling Green?

Sounds great Dave our biz has been very busy too but hate to see this special event not get recognized if you know what I mean! I did shoot Bruce a pm too about posting a voting date poll. But I think the October weekend is the best too! If enough members agree we can just set it for that date!
Thanks again Dave have a great weekend keep in touch!

October 3-6 is good for us. We are having a 3rd grandbaby plus a wedding in the family in September so MAM Funfest/XLR BobFest is out for us :( but October should be something we can do :party

May I add here that if any of you reading this that has not joined in on any of the 'group gatherings' that you MUST make either (or both) of these events: you will be welcomed as a friend!

Thanks Sandy for responding! Please help spread the word I believe we should just book this date with NCM before it gets taken and just run with it from there! Hopefully we get more interested and some help to plan I'm totally lost never really did a event of this magnitude

Well the big question is who is in that 'Neck-of-the-Woods' that can organize this: figure out hotels, other things to see and do as a group etc. Many things can be sorted by phone and internet but to actually check out acomodations to be sure they are nice with great parking that is well illuminated etc. I am currently in Florida and headinghome next weekend and I was going to head west so I could stop by and see the XLR Brick on the way home but now I am likely headed east to East Pennsylvania to check out a classic car collection for sale and doing both would add 6 more hours of driving to our trip home. :(

SO: do we have some one in that area? If not, has anyone stayed in that area, their opinions on their accomodations, restaurants etc?

There are many hotels in the area that are OK. Some are very close to the NCM. Restaurants too. Many on the forum have been there for the Homecomings.

I will plan on attending whatever the date. It is just a little over 200 miles for me, so I could be considered close when compared to some others.

I'm trying to remember the name of local Corvette club guy we met at the homecomings but it escapes me right now. It is hell to get old. Bruce? Dave? Anyone? bail me out here. I can picture him just can't get his name. He is local and would be a good contact.

I spoke to Roc he referred me to Jana for setting up a date which it seem to be most likely the 1 st week/ weekend in October as of now still need to figure out start day Thursday / Friday looking for suggestions????

IMHO, I think a Friday start date is better. Maybe a get together for the early birds on Thursday.

That's what I was thinking to! Thanks for your suggestions!

Here are some things that I can think of - that we would probably need assistance on for the weekend:

Getting a block of rooms from a local hotel (special discounted rate)
Coming up with an event "logo"
Dash Plaque (designing, ordering, etc....)
Tshirts or Polo Shirts for the event
Putting together an itinerary (dinner plans, possible Plant Tours, guest
speakers for "inside" info about the birth of the XLR, etc....)
Trasportation between hotel and museum (for those that are leaving their
XLR's in the museum during the event)
campaign to get people to attend (advertising or something I guess)

... just to name a few things off the top of my head... anything else you can think of Bruce? Feel free to edit them in.

This post above here was a list of some things ChicagoDave originally posted before when this event was talked about back in 2011! This seems like a good place to start. Is there anyone has connection to help get this set up?

Hope this helps, and if tying Bob Fest and this 10th Anniversary together is no longer an option being considered, we unfortunately will not be attending.

Before a date is pinned down, we should see what everyone thinks. Just becaurs there is a NAVY thing there Friday night does not mean we cant use that week. Also the original concept was to to the BOBFest then roll it into the BG event the following weekend. Anyone that wants to string the two events together can perhaps head to the Smokey Mountains for some fabulous driving between the events!

Is it possible to post a fillable table on a seperate thread EVENTS: WHO COULD MAKE WHICH DATES where we can post our names, with columns for FunFest Sept 20/22nd, 10th Anniv on the 27/29th, 10th on the 4th/6th and accertain who would prefer what dates etc. If it can not be done on this site then we could use Survey Monkey or some such site.

It does not matter to us which weekend we use! I know we can not attend BobFest because plans already for that weekend As you mentioned as of the other day there is a Navy dinner, we would most likely be going to a restaurant as group ourselves in the evening hours! As they said these are dates available now, but we should pencil in dates ASAP!
