Baby's Got a New Pair of Shoes!

Got 'er done today with new tires for my unit.

Shopped til I dropped and settled on a set of Bridgestone Dura Guards. Read all of the reviews on every run flat brand out there and settled on the Stones for both price and comfort.

Paid $190 per tire with lifetime rotation and alignment in the deal for free.

I'll keep you all posted on the results.

When I saw the tires taken off I was shocked. The wear pattern indicated that they had never been rotated. They were the OEM Pirellis. When I bought the car it had 51,000 miles on it and they had been there since day one. The new Stones carry a 50,000 mile warranty. All of the others only had a 30,000 mile guarantee.

On the drive home It felt brand new. Amazing difference.

Crazy. I just did the same thing Saturday. Paid a bit more but so far they do ride a lot better.

dura guards

where did you find the bridgestone "dura guards".
i went on google and tire rack but could only find bridgestone "drive guards" which are a touring tire in a run flat.

I jumped in the car and quick posted on the iphone. They are 'Drive Guards.'

I drove a little over a hundred miles today to the lake house. I could not believe the change between these tires and the Pirellis. Smooth and sticky.

 

[XLRATING]

I just put the Drive Guards on my XLR. There was no significant change in ride quality from the non-runflat Michelins they replaced - I had to make a point of paying attention to the ride to pick up on any differences. They are maybe a little stiffer, although not too bad.

I'm probably influenced by the fact that my base CTS coupe daily driver has a really stiff/tight ride to the point the XLR on my old tires was feeling downright squishy - & the XLR used to seem pretty firm when I had a STS for my DD!
