Lincoln Highway Centennial Celebration

We had a fun day yesterday in Auburn @ the ACD Museum. 25 Corvettes (7 in our caravan) were on hand to welcome the members of the LH Caravan. There were 86 cars that had been shipped over to the US for the 4 week drive along the Lincoln Highway from New York to San Francisco! There were 22 Cadillacs in the group, they really love Cadillacs! They were a very nice group of people that really enjoy their American rides. They will be heading over to IL today & on into IA on Tuesday. It was nice to tour the museum again, there have been some nice changes to the place since our last visit 5 yrs ago.

Great pics, Bruce. Wish we could have met up with you. It looked liked an awesome group of cars and people!

Has to be German, Messerschmitt made planes--it looks like an airplane cockpit. That is the ultimate for a 'back seat driver' :laugh::laugh:

don't know much about it, here's a few more pictures;

The little Messerschmitt micro-cars were very popular in post WWII Germany. They were relatively inexpensive and provided low-cost transportation. Most German industry had been heavily damaged, if not destroyed. Fuel was scarce and expensive. So Messerschmitt, famous for producing some of the most technically advanced planes of WWII and prohibited from producing aircraft, turned to producing these little micro-cars.

Bruce,

Great collection of photos of this event. Really enjoyed them!
Seems I must live vicariously through you all this summer to enjoy such awesome classics.
