Important! New thread - Colorado Event

Bishop's Castle is interesting and the roads to and from are great on a motorcycle. Should translate into good in the XLR.

Okay ... I trust your judgement on the Castle, Kent. I've been through the AZ mountains with you ... you find great roads. And I've never toured anything even remotely referred to as a castle. We're for that one.

But ... park assist on or off .... one night I'll be at the casino! :reddevil

Anyone else find something on the list they'd like to do as a group drive or event?

I want to do that one too!!! And I will do a little of the Casino thing. But if I don't win even a little I am leaving! Need to save my money for shopping!

I'm up for that. I like the casino. Kevin wins I lose for him. ;):D

Okay, I've added Bishop's Castle and the casino to the Events list ... any other suggestions. :blinzel:

I, also, would like to throw this out for discussion .... I liked the idea of a banquet dinner one night ... One where we have our own room, a podium, possibly do some door prizes, present some "trophy" type awards: Like for who traveled the longest distance, maybe some pre-dinner votes for best wheels - you know, that type of thing ... maybe some music going ... just a fun get-together. Yes, it would probably cost about the same as a really nice dinner I would imagine, but I would love to be a part a small committee to get that going.
What are your thoughts??? :dunno: :)

Great! I'll add Salida ...
I hope we get a good response on the dinner ...
One big play-pen sounds like so much fun....
Yes ... that's what I mean .... Just crazy fun trophys as well as some real ones ... ! Maybe even the place we eventually choose for lodging would have a room for us to use ... can't have some of us drinking and driving! :squint:

I'm just like a kid in a candy store, one of each please. I go where ever I'm pointed, because I know at the end of the day I will have done or seen something I would not have, had I'd been sitting at home.

I'm with you, Brian.

I know that you're on your first journey with your XLR now .... I hope you're falling in love! Looking forward to your comments when you get back.

Re: CC10

I just sorta want to "cheerlead" the date voting ... http://xlr-net.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3456

We're just like the rest of you and need to mark our calendars so as not to coincide with other vacation plans, work conflicts, family events or whatever since it is a chunk of time... that's the primo time of year for traveling anywhere.

I agree with you RA!! Remember the great nights we had at the dinners with RII and RIII. Of coarse we won't be having Cadillac footing the bill like at RIII. But didn't we all pay an entry fee or something for the dinner for RII?? Maybe if we get a hotel we can get it arranged. :dunno:

Yep, Chad ... I do remember those nights and dinners ... all of them!

Remember when we all met for the first night at R2? How :rocker: was that night? Yeah, Cadillac paid for it ... and the memories are priceless.

At RII your entry fee paid for the catered BBQ at the hotel parking lot and for your shirt. Cadillac paid for the dinner at the restaurant downtown.

At RIII Cadillac paid for the dinner at the country club and your entry fee paid for the lunch in hotel parking lot, shirt and travel mug.

I am glad that we were able to get a couple of good years with Cadillac sponsorship. They got cars there, speakers at the factory, free XLR books to anyone who wanted one. They also were able to get the local Cadillac dealership to sponsor a dinner each year. Cadillac put a lot of money into the Rendezvous each year and I'm glad that many people got to attend and make good friendships. I don't think that Cadillac will be in a position to be involved in anymore sponsorships like that for quite some time.

I second that Ruthie! I for one, love the memories, and know we will all make more. But thanks to Cadillac for doing all they did to make it a success so that we all want to keep the memories going.:)

And as for the MM's, thanks to Bruce and Kathy for getiing this end started, we would not know the people and the cars if it were not for all the time you spent in getting us together for these events. And all the love you put into our cars!

Thank You, you are very kind. I hope you all know how much we enjoy being with you. We have met so many great people through the XLR and hope to make more friends and wonderful memories in the future. Party on.:rocker:

You are very welcome Bruce! We thank you! Congrats on Photo Mom's car, tell her I am jealous!! :chuckle

Looking at a place to stay that has a banquet room, or attached restaurant with a private room would be perfect (thank, FR) ... we would only have to stumble to our rooms ...

My vote for the dinner would be either the first night of the event ... like a welcoming banquet, or the last night .... when we could say our goodbyes to those who might leave early, and have our last Hurrah.

Jim's information about some sort of registration fee may make sense just so that this type of event could happen. If there was some up-front money to work with it would be so much easier. After the date is set, it would be nice to see a list form where those who would like to help could sign up.

Thoughts on this??? :blinzel:

Manitou Springs RodeWay Inn @ the Castaways. The RodeWay Inn has 49 Rooms. The standard rates start at $109.99 plus tax and go to $179.99 plus tax. Their computer only goes out nine months so all of the rooms are available at this time. Davy Crockett, General Manager was not in today but will be tomorrow. The resturant, the Castaways was not open today but will be tomorrow. They have a small banquet room that seats 25 but they also have larger ones so they can seat 300. The large banquet rooms are in the basement and they can open up two or three that would all be one big one so I am sure they can accomodate the XLR group. This is the resturant I told you about that has the great prime rib. I saw on the marquee it is on special this week for $10.95

Here are the web sites: www.choicehotels.com go to Manitou Springs, CO and it will be the first one that pops up. They have a pool and also furnish continental breakfast, You can go next door to the Castaways for Happy Hour.

The web site for the Castaways: www.castawaysinn.com

Check both of these out and let me know what you think. Thanks

Oh yes, I know Davy and Michael who manages the resturant.

Thanks FR I will check it out and let you know. :worship:

I forgot to mention that when I speak with Davy I know we will be given better rates. The young man at the front desk told me that if we use this motel they will give us 90 days to book and after nintey days the rooms will be available to the tourist and that is without signing a contract. I thought that was pretty great of them. I also like the idea on the range of rooms and prices. If you want low, you got it, if you want more and want to spend more you can have that too and still be all in one place.
That is a great idea to have a price range on the rooms like that. GOOD WORK FR. :worship:
